FSX And Windows 11.

Hello everyone I'm looking at getting back into flight simulator and currently don't have the money to get 2020 or 24. I still have FSX Steam Edition that I can install and a load of aircraft, is there anything I need to do in order to get the sim to work on Windows 11?. Or can I just install it straight away?.
 
My only advice is to not install it to the "Program Files" directory, make your own directory and point the installer to that directory.
 
It should NOT be problem to use FSX or FSX Stream in Windows 11 but be aware that Windows 10 and Windows 11 do not like use of FS2004 gauges and cockpit panels in FSX (Windows 7 allows that but Windows 10 and 11 do not allow that) so be sure you use FSX compatible gauges and cockpit panels for FSX for any FS2004 planes that you want to use in FSX or FSX Stream.

Thank you everyone, most of the aircraft I have are FSX native so hopefully the gauges shouldn't be a problem.
 
Whilst I'm here has anyone else had problems s]downloading repaints?. When I do my McAfee says that there is a virus within the folder.
 
Anti-virus are paranoid IMO. This happens for things it hasn't or rarely seen are just flag because??? IDK. Happen a bit XP era zips with Chrome during the big Library reupload and Windows Defender once flagged my own zip file from the XP era as virus when I downloaded it from here yet doesn't care about the copies on my external HDD.

What repaint(s) got the warning?

Windows Defender finds nothing wrong but I do see an old XP era thumbs.db. Maybe AV doesn't like that?

A small piece of advice from someone who works in IT: avoid McAfee and Norton like the plague, because they are. Resource hogs that offer very little protection.

Really? Thats disconcerting, as I use Norton, although it's getting to the point that price (they are getting very greedy) is likely to force me to drop it. Any suggestions Priller as to alternatives? Thanks
