FSX Conversions - Almost there but...

Bookman1960

SOH-CM-2023
I'm hoping someone can help me with a simple problem...

I've been successfully converting planes from CFS2, FS2002 and FS2004 into FSX however, I've run into a number of examples where I have blacked out windows or worse, blacked out cockpit glass. I've replaced the textures but still have trouble. Such as...

Fleet-back.jpg
Fleet 1929 - Rear view

The trouble...

Can anyone help?

Many of the models I've converted work wonderfully in FSX -- just need to work on selecting FSX-compatibe gauges and tweaking a few things.

I appreciate any help.

Almost There...Update

I dabbled a bit more and while I successfully 'cleared' the cockpit glass, I still have a hole of sorts..

Better...but..

From inside...

I changed the glass area from the older FS2K2/FS9 default "pure black" to FSX "pure white"

Fleet 1929 - Panel.jpg

It helped but still isn't working, as seen above.

Anyone have a solution?

The panel bitmap is for the 2D panel only and black (0,0,0) still works in FSX.

What you are seeing in the VC it the dynamic texture that is used for gauge placement.

This texture is compiled into the model and exists only in memory, so there is no way to change it, AFAIK.

cheers,
Lane
