FSX Default Afterburners

Anyone tell me where in the FSX default F-18 aircraft file the afterburners are located? Most addons I have found are in the aircraft.cfg light section operated by a gauge in the panel.cfg.

I looked at the .mdl file for the FA-18 in ModConvX and they show as attachpoints in the model. This means you need the source code to access them.

Best, Paul

What is a source code? Where do I get it? How do I open the mdl file in FSX or FS9?

Any hex editor will allow you to edit the referenced fx files in the MDL file (usually you find them at the end of the MDL file). In case of the stock F/A-18, these fx files are referenced in the MDL:

fx_AfterBurnerFire1
fx_AfterBurnerFire2
fx_AfterBurnerFire3

BTW: I use the freeware Hex Editor Neo.
