FSX EE Lightning from the fs9 Alphasim & cab file problem
I downloaded the files for the portover of the EE Lightning to fsx.
One of them is EELightningsPack2Distr.zip, and in order to make the F2A Lightning, one has to make a cab file.
I tried 2-3 programs, including Cabdir.exe from the FSX SDK, and the files I made do not work--I have no gauges. I managed to convert the bmp's to dds's though. But the cab file beat me.
The Readme says:
3) Add the contents of the CAB directory to your EELightning(2).CAB file (cabdir.exe from the SDK required - if not available, just put them in a directory in your panels folder and re-reference the panel.cfg file.
I assume the name of the new cab must be [EELightning(2).CAB] or am I wrong?
And then in that cab directory there are two folders, named "60" and "1024". Are these 2 folders to be included in the cab file?
It would have been much easier if the maker of the file included the cab file, ready for those who download it. It is never too late and it will help a lot.
Or, perhaps, it can be uploaded as an aid to the simmers who download the mod.
For the conversion to dds (of the bmp files) I used Martin Wright's [convimx] tool which converts them as a batch--all done with two mouseclicks. That saved me from converting them one by one and it worked.
