FSX may have become a combat flight sim

Don't be testing me so..:banghead:.

I am thinking of going to FSX...

If this becomes able to do combat.. Well as they say..
I AM THERE!!!!
Look out, FSX a Hobbit is headed your way, the Sim will never be the same again..:gameoff:
Not to worry the CFS3 family of sims is and will remain my Favorite..:salute:
Don't be building my hopes up here Now...:jump:
Man i'm going to need a faster computer, AGAIN, if this is so..:jump:

Check out the the videos.

My have to look into this somemore.

M$ could have done this with CFS3. Or 4,5,6 and so forth. Instead thy opened up a huge market for 3ed party developers.

HouseHobbit if you start doing C/FSX please let me be a Bata tester.:wiggle:
lol

check out the flak effect threead somewhere here. I dont know if it causes damage but it works well with the bombers.

I have looked into the RDJ Simulation - Mission Vietnam X futher.
The Combat in FSX is not going to courner the market.
CFS3 was ment to be a combat sim,
FSX was not.
Maybe it could be, but not with this mission pack.
The lock-on missiles missions my be better.
Will have to what and see.

I thought they'd done all this before, and it turned out to be little more than visual effects. In other words, your guns flashed but did no damage - which was just as well, because the other aircraft had no means of assessing that damage, either.

After all the time I've spent on CFS3, I don't really care whether they modify FSX or not. I'm not going. And to be honest, if the rest of you do, then I shall hold the fort on my own.

Not to worry I will be here also...
This is my first "Love"...:salute:..
So until the fat lady sings, and they turn out the Lights..
This is where you will find me..in the CFS3 family..

FSX would be fun to try..
And I shall..:jump:

I showed this post about FSX in combat to show that with the right effects FSX could be a combat flight sim. There are limitations in both FSX and CFS3 as to what one sim can and can not do.
I hope that at some point FSX can be made into a combat flight sim.
With the right people working on the sim it probable could.
After flying some of the missions in FSX there are some good effects. Yes there are combat effects.
The 3ed party developers just have not taken FSX that direction. I have flowen missions in FSX were the plane was shot down.So yes it must be posable to do combat in FSX.

Could you imagine flying combat missions in any part of the world or flying in supplys.

ndicki I understand your thoughts about CFS3. I just see some great possabilits for combat in FSX.

There is a program for FSX called FSPassengers that you can take off from any air port in the world. (link is at OXz) You can start your on airline and set up flight planes. The program shows the war zones on a world map. You talk about immersion in a flight sim. I have the demo so I can only take off from KSFO,KOAK and KCCR but still I can make a flight plane to land and refuel at as may airports as I want to in order to make the destination airport.
This may be old news to most of you but not to me.
I love the Expansion in CFS3.
I just see some real possabilty in FSX.
With the right developers at the helm.

I need to say this also. With M$ coming out with there new flight simView attachment 16739.
The payware developers will probably start making add-ons for that sim and you will see more and more freeware for FSX.
I have alraedy seen a big drop in the prices for the FSX add-ons just in the time M$ made the announcement of M$ Flight.

This is in FSX I'm flying from KCCR in Calf, US. across the the big pond to EGSS UK, London delivering some need parts for some fighters.
I have the FSPassenger set in 1944 war zone so I my get some flack while in flight.
View attachment 16755If I make it to London with out getting shot down while over the war zone 1944 flack.
I will then fire up ETO and join in the fight. Thy are needing some pilots View attachment 16754to help out.

The time to make this flight is 24+ hours real time. I'm not up for a flight marathon right now.
But in FSX you can save the settings of View attachment 16753where your at and start form there . No matter if your in the air or on the ground. I have REX2 so i'm getting the weather real time as I make this flight.

flyer01- Flight simmer for life!

I have and like FSX. I also have and like CFS3, but I don't confuse the two. There are lots of things that can be done in FSX, but it does lack a damage model and I don't think one could be added without reworking the sim and the models.

The new MS Flight is only at the sketchy details stage. It's all very interesting, but it'll take a while before we see much of substance. I doubt if it'll have any combat features - they're not PC - but I'd be delighted to be wrong. What a life a games programmer has - "Management to ACES Studio, you're fired! .... Hi guys, we've got some work you might like."

Said this before, and I'll say it again - I can't see the fun. Sitting there clutching one's stick for hours in front of the computer flying from Heathrow to JFK, or wherever, whatever the aircraft... Sheer boredom. I've got/had - can't even remember - FS2002 installed, and honestly, after five minutes, that's my lot. Nothing to blow up, shoot down, vandalise or maim. What else do you use aeroplanes for?

A relative who had a PPL said if he ever could afford to go flying again he'd just do circuits and bumps. He found GA flying quite tedious after learning how, but landings - being mandatory - were always a challenge.

I like dropping a wholly unsuitable aircraft on to a decidedly tricky airfield and trying not to Hobbit into the buildings, surrounding houses and schools, harbour, cliff face etc.

OK, that I can understand - and I have to say, CFS3 could do it better. Strike Fighters could do it a LOT better... CFS2 was actually pretty good for this sort of thing.

This shows the B-17 in FSX. There is some flak that can be add to different places around the world if you know how. There is also bombs that can be droped and explod when thay hit the ground.
ndicki is right about damage.
There are some people that say that thy can do this. FSX is a different set-up than CFS. As for now when I want to fly combat I will be in CFS3.
There is not may missions that I have found for FSX. The missions I have found and came with FSX gold are very different than the CFS3 Missions. The people that have FSX know what I mean.
I will try and put a video together of a misson for the people that have not seen this.

The B-17 A2A is very fun to fly. The guys that put this plane together made it to where you can do what the real plane did and your the Pilot of the plane. This video shows what I mean.

I'm going to keep looking into this and see what there my be out there .

Hey Mike can you man the turret positions etc? One thing I loved about the ol' 'Mighty Eighth' combat sim was that you could man all the positions and be able to affect the mission, even the radio operator, flight engineer and Navigator.

I need to say this also. With M$ coming out with there new flight simView attachment 16739.
The payware developers will probably start making add-ons for that sim and you will see more and more freeware for FSX.

The payware devs will move to Flight if it's still open architecture, however, I doubt there'd be a huge increase in freeware for FSX because aircraft built native for FSX take so much more time than they did for FS9 and backwards.

Video showing the flak you can put in FSX.

Jeff, What you see on the video is as close to getting into the gunners place in this plane. As the CAPT. of the plane you order the crew to do that. LOL
