FSX native Fokker D XXI RELEASED

Dan, will the D.XXI be TacPac-enabled, so that we can use the machine guns on, for example, Ju-52 transport planes (overtaking a 109 will be hard)?

I don't think so, since I don't have TacPack and becaus I can't keep promising things. But to be honest, I've been thinking of that before;)

Save the TacPac version for the 5th update :biggrin-new:. By that time we might have a nice FSX native Junkers Ju52 armed version.

The Ford TraDo looks promising Cees!

Cheers,
Huub

Nice work Cees, glad you're picking up and get rolling the scenery development ;)

Announcement: I'm planning to make the D.21 TacPack compatible. It will be freeware anyhow.

Hi,

It has been very interesting to follow this thread, superb work on the new Fokker(s).

Any chance of tempting you into making the Fokker CV series? The Norwegian army air force was a big user of both the CVE light bomber and the CVD fighter models and they were even license produced at the army air force aircraft factory at Kjeller. They were good multirole combat aircraft for their time, but by 1940 they showed the sorry state of the Norwegian military as the CV series was still the main combat aircraft. Even so they fought on during the Norwegian campaign in both the light bomber and recce roles.

Hi everybody,

@JensOle: good idea, but I already have a kind of list of Fokkers that need to be done. First things first: finish the D.21, then the T.5, and then...who knows...

Did some work tonight: the windscreen should be right, I hope. I made the thing about four times... I also made the cut for the second cockpit/gunner position.

The T.5 had a camera onboard, located in the nose section. It is slightly displaced from the center (as far as I could conclude from photographs) and there's a small window on the left lower cheek. Now both windows are at both sides, because of the use of a Mirror modifier. Another fun thing is that the Fokker engineers didn't make rounded corners at the nose glazing, but 45deg rotated square plates. So I did a tedious job in rounding all corners, but it wasn't needed. Fixed that tonight.

I couldn't resist making a shot of the greenhouse from the inside. Some day, this will be the base for a VC in which I'll spend hundreds of hours, I expect. Not a bad job though.

Edit: pic of that nose glazing corners.

Nice plane Cees, plans on publishing it?

Update on TacPack: first tests with a shooting D.21 are done and satisfactory. Now the job is to get the guns in the right position. Sadly, no tracers possible as far as I know... I remember though that late Guus Kiel (a D.21 pilot) told he saw tracers for the first time in May 1940. Anybody knows what the focus distance was of the guns? I believe I heard somewhere 300 m...

Dave Eckert's Sopwith Camel has a gun effect with tracers. And yes Daan, eventually I will publish the Fokker S.IV, but there's a long way to go. Apart from that: it's built in FSDS 3.51, so it won't be as sophisticated as your D-XXI

Cees

Hi stickshaker, I think I'm partly to blame for this. I have received the documentation from Daan, however due to real world issues, I haven't found the time to check/comment it. Of course I can't speak for Daan, but I think the model could be released as it is, with some further updates as TacPac compatibility as a future update. But as said, perhaps Daan has different ideas.

Cheers,
Huub
