FSX-native Mustang from A2A . . .

Well, apart from killing myself twice in quick succession by muffing stall recovery, I'm having fun. It's really nice to have this one back. :applause:

Yep, this plane has some of the most "interesting" stall characteristics. Try slowing to 150-ish MPH, with the prop in high RPM, then jam on the power. The effect is - breathtaking... Just make sure you're at 7000 feet or so before you try it... Hehe.

I've never been a huge P-51 fanatic. Although I don't run around calling it a "designer warbird" or anything... :)d) and it's hard to argue with the success! And she does sound sweet.

I have always been very impressd with the A2A / WoP version of this plane. Just as beautiful as it gets. I'm happy to get to fly the "pony" again in FSX!

Thanks A2A people!

Is there an alternate pilot texture by chance? That ugly yellow jacket is ruining my nice blue and silver paint scheme. :icon_lol:

Oooh, the legendary paintscheme from the Matchbox 1:72 model :applause: Great!

Jankees did some RAF paints. Sort the files by the author, pick "Jankees" and they should appear from the page 10 :)

There is this famous 19sqn RAF Mustang to start with......

The repaint is done by Tony 'TonyG' Greenfeld is available here:

Looks as though it needs some new alpha maps unfortunately.

All repaints for this aircraft by TonyG are a bit greyish. Therefore the look more like they are painted with alluminium-dope instead of polished alluminium.

This has killed at least one warbird pilot on a go-around - can't remember the details but throttles to the firewall with prop at 3000rpm is lethal.

I'm currently on my lunch break and since it's POETS Day I'm off in a bit to d/l.

BTW I've done a hi-res version of John's (Bomber_12th) texture set for the WOPII solo and got loads of skins just waiting for this!!

Magic A2A!!!:jump:

It's lethal due to the torque the prop and engine produce. It comes on so quick that if the pilot's not ready for it - Bang. It may be possible that if the power comes up too quickly, no amount of control input will balance it quickly enough. As noted, doing that at altitude is OK if the fuselage fuel tank is very near empty - a real E ticket ride. Close the ground is not a good idea.

May I ask where you got a lot of these repaints from (I fear AVSIM!)? I'm particularly interested in any of the G-**** registered ones (UK based) - Jumpin' Jacques, etc. I downloaded Janie, Ferocious Frankie and Twilight Tear earlier, but I think they were all for the wrong version of Mustang (different mapping).

Tweek, Both repaints are here at the SOH in the library. The links towards these repaints are directly above the image.

Cheers,

Sorry, I was referring to some of the repaints shown earlier on the first and second pages. Thanks anyway.

Another of Jan Kees...

Anybody know how I can find this one? I really love the blue the silver ones, but after looking through all 25 pages of jankees paints and not finding it's seeming a little hopeless. :icon_lol: I simply cannot figure out how to perform any kind if decent search in the library here.

I'm having a heck of a time getting this new version into FSX -- mainly because I can't seem to get the previous (CD) version of WWII Fighters to install anymore. Just after the original WWII Fighters installer starts, it says it can't find my FSX installation. When I point it to the correct folder, it runs for a second, then fails, saying the installer is corrupt. I copied it from the CD to my HD, but no dice. In searching the A2A forums, it seems that I'm not the only one to have this problem - something to do with SP2 vs. Acceleration - but I'm the only one who seems unable to lick it.

Has anyone else suffered from this?

Most repaints can be found here at the Sim-Outhouse. John 'Bomber_12th' Terell did an superb paintkit for this model, which was actually used as base by most repainters.

An amazing amount of repaints can be found is you search the library on Bomber_12th, jankees and Chuck Lawsen.

Enjoy,

Absolutely recommended!

Bill,

The CD had the FS2004 version on it and should therefore search for the FS2004 install. Perhaps that's the source of the problem.

You could try to install it into a fake FS2004 folder at the default position and copy it into your FSX install.

Hope this helps,
Huub

Bill I came across this problem once before with a different installer. I DL'd this little utility and it fixed the problem for me....

It might be worth trying it especially if you have moved or re-installed FSX to a different location at some point in the past.

Cheers for that! Much easier to find them all under the developer's names.

Rats, I can't find my backup of the P-51. Darnit, guess I have to ask A2A for a new link pretty please.

Okay, it's not all that much effort, but I want it NOW!!! :icon_lol:

Thanks a lot for the heads up on the FSX update. I really haven't flown the Mustang much, but now it's a whole new plane!
