Now that P3Dv4 is out, and notoriously stable...I believe it is time to take the plunge. This will be the first, and I'm very much looking forward to the learning curve.

You can eat your heart out with this baby when it comes to that, Gordon ! Good choice ! :encouragement:

Good thing too is that you can learn and fly at the same time with help of the AFE !

Have fun!

Cheers,
Jan

Well FWIW these are of the 6 in FSX today (Over Southern Alps heading to NSW Coast). Compared to others a low end system, working just fine. Ran for about two hours, no hiccups no freezes or crashes and with real time weather being loaded as we went. Solved the control problems (ANSWER: Read the manual). I put this on par with Manfred's C-47, the FR C-4. the A2A L049. and the Capt Sim B707, B727, for large multi-engined aeroplanes.

As this was the test re FSX for me, P3D can wait til next year.

Great pic's from FSX.

P3Dv4 is good (own it) but until the AI environment in that sim gets more "complete", it will have to wait. This airplane begs for a retro environment to fly in. Having 777's 787's, A350's and A380's on the same approach with a DC6, somewhat ruins it for me. For the foreseeable future, FSX soldiers on.

Thanks for the pictures.

Bill

Thanks for the images guys. A beautiful model and as Jan already said a stunning VC.

Cheers,
Huub

Parking a DC-6 easy as parking a car (no tractor needed). Wonder if we can do it like that too.. ( Yes, we can ! (although too much power needed..)).
Gorgeous idle sound ! (not particularly hearing that with our precious PMDG bird..)

I am hoping that some of our very talented painters here at SOH will tackle this one, now that the paint kit is out. With all that P3D v4 is capable of, the results could be tremendous!

As a freight dog, I’d beg a couple of freighter repaints....

What a great Airplane! There is one - WIP V5-NCF...

But I can´t use repaintkit, it seens it supports only very actual psd files. With my old photopaint I am not able to import these files.

WIP pure wethered aluminium DC-6B, N55CA of Miami leasing company F.A.Connor Inc. 1979. It is a good base.

Man, Thomas, I remember seeing these 6s looking exactly like your shot, parked/flying down in Miami and up in Ft. Lauderdale back in the late 70s. I'm sure there are a lot fewer now! NICE job!

Don

yes, the N55CA of F.A. Connor right out of the corrosive corner of Miami, now like a DC-6BF with full cargo equipment. A good base for further Vortex, Universal, Trans-Air-Link or many other good old friends. We will see.

I am surprised that by now there have not been more liveries done for the DC-6 for FSX/P3D but none have appeared yet. By comparison there are quite a few for the X-Plane version. So either everyone is happy with what they have now or the paint process is a bugger or there is not as much interest in this bird as we might think. TIAR I also had a look at the paint kit and it is a busted flush for me as well as I cannot use psd. files in my paint program either. Might be waiting awhile for a TEAL and TAA livery for this gem.

Alternatively, it was raised as a question in another thread, can you convert X-Plane paints to work in FSX? I have no idea.

Portover X-Plane-png files is working, if you have the PMDGs FSX/P3D repaints and you are familar with generally repainting skills. They are using the same mappings. But you can´t publish them without permission, because it not your work. Perhaps this is the reason, that no repaints are released yet. So I create these aluminium bases for me. I will share my work as soon as possible. The PMDG DC-6A/B is a great choice. Its my favorite p3DV4 bigprop at the moment. I have a lot of fun with it.

Both TEAL and TAA are very easy to do - with a good base. But I can´t do them in the next weeks.

Thomas

Thomas, the Ansett-ANA aircraft is also to repaint. I did one for the JF DC-6B and started working on one for TAA but got involved in a couple of beta programmes and it has been sitting awaiting finishing.
