FSX Scenery--Royal Air Force Tangmere (EGUT) UK for Microsoft Flight Simulator X and Horizon VFR Photographic Scenery Generation X (Vol. 1) only. The south coast of England was once the United Kingdom's air defence front line. One of the most famous airfields in Fighter Command at that time was Royal Air Force Tangmere. The station played a leading role in the Battle of Britain and later spearheaded the Allied counter attack in northern France. This scenery represents the airfield in its final post-WW2 form and includes custom made objects, autogen trees and animated scenery objects for the local area. By Trevor Clark and Ted Harrison.

Sorry, looks too new for me ... I want 1940 era ...
There is a 1940 version out (although he uses the 1946 tower and hangars) by John McKeon for default FSX at FlightSim.com.

Because of using the VFR photo scenery, you canot really have (IMHO) a 1940's all grass airfield sitting next to a busy dual carriageway road, which is how it is now. I wanted to build it as I remember it, I flew my first solo flight (a glider at 16) from Tangmere so it will always be special to me.

It is about to built over with cheap modern houses and even the museum (now using the old ground comms workshop buildings) will be forced to move.
