I've just been within a mouse-click away (quite literally) from getting the Aerosoft F-14. OK.. the main reason was for the carrier that comes with it but that said.. I've been trying to justify the F-14 too!! Just before adding to basket.. I thought I'd look at Dino's model one more time so closed JF down. My main problem (only problem really) with Dino's model was the horrible wrinkly effect on the HUD glass which made even seeing a carrier difficult. I'd used the 'No scratches' fix but the wrinkles remained. Thought I'd try the 'fully transparent canopy' option and I can see!!!

What all this means is that I've successfully talked myself out of the Aerosoft model for a while longer. No nice carrier but I didn't really want the early Tomcat. The 'boomer' shot was over Culdrose so I bet the phones are red hot from irate locals!!

Decided to take a break from the Lockheed shop heaters this morning and get an old favorite up and going in FSX. Still needs some tweaking (not happy with the props) but overall, it's going good.

On my going on 8 year old rig I'm locked at 30 and it pretty much stays at that. On the pic I posted a couple pages back
(Kitty Hawk class carriers) the fps was at 29.9, and that's with 4 highly detailed carriers in the pic all using 2048x2048 dds
textures.

Cheers Joe I didn't last much longer 'resisting'.. damn you all!! The Aerosoft F-14 and Kitty Hawk have been purchased, downloaded and installed. Not looked at the F-14 yet but a little disappointed in Kitty. I don't use 'scenery cast shadows' and note that none of the deck models have their own shadows making them look a bit odd. I see a bit of a frame hit too though not restrictive. Goes to show just how good Javiers Nimitz/Ike v2 is!! Used pretty much all of my points at JF so in the end.. it wasn't too painful. A lot to pay for a carrier and a free F-14 though

While I freely admit to being more interested in the AS Kitty Hawk than the F-14 (I prefer the D model).. I'm glad Joe tempted me into getting it. What a beautiful, beautiful model. This was a quick 'tester' from Culdrose to Valley (via 'The Loop').. 'live' weather (ASN) and an AI F-14 in tow. Great FR's, lovely and smooth, crystal clear inside too.. a pleasure to own and fly.
