Here goes ...

we'll get rid of all our CATOBAR carriers,
disband our naval air defense fighter squadrons
put two surplus AIM-9s on a Nimrod ...

and now we have long-range air interception and ASW all on one platform. Done.

Genius. The only way they'd have done it better was if they'd have put it on a AEW3 model Nimrod - then you'd early warning/detection as well, all on the same aircraft.

:running:

Nice pics, btw, Dave! :ernaehrung004: Is that your monster Op Corporate formation?

EDIT - just having a bit of fun, in case anyone's knickers are feeling a bit too tightly wound.

No tight knickers here!:biggrin-new:

Yes.. the Op Corporate formation continues to grow. The 2 carrier groups are now a further 2000yds out and the whole lot is becoming more difficult to handle!! Not sure what to do about the amphibious group.. I'm running out of ships to guard it. Still.. with the carriers further forward, air cover is extended plus there's 'the' sidewinder Nimrod:very_drunk:

Cool Dave!

Surely you could "reuse" the same destroyer escorts between the various carrier groups, no? You'd not see the side numbers from the same two ships at those distances ... just a thought.

dl

That's true but I already have the right number of destroyers/frigates in the group. Fitting in all the RFA's would be a headache even if I had all the models.. there were 22 in total:eek: I've another 8 waiting to join:biggrin-new: The formation looks a bit tight around the amphibious ships but it might be ok. Takes a while to fly around the task force now. I'd run out of juice in a Lightning:very_drunk:

Ok - now I'm following.

LOL - indeed, hence the Nimrod!

OK - enough talk, already, it's a screenshot thread ...

Here's my first attempt at some editing ...

kinda fun ... though the water doesn't look very good any more ... just exploring ...

ok ... let's try another ...

Thanks B!

On a roll ...

trying to replicate the effect from a few old airliner postcards I have from the very early 1970s ...

Not really my repaint. The reflective textures are Gman's original textures and the Globalenv files are by BananaBob................

and the actual aircraft was not even a c-47 but a DC-3!

RAF Bassingbourn.

I've been adding objects to the airfield, trying to bring it to life. Trouble is, I don't know when to stop! Maybe when the last blade of grass is planted.

The basic RAF Bassingbourn is by Ian Pearson, my thanks to him for allowing me to play with it.

Den.

B-29...

Hello Chaps,

I thought I would "give it a go" and add a picture of mine. I hope you like?
