Yes, I think you can once it's registered with the Steam people. It's worth running for the performance upgrade alone though, on my machines both the old one and the new one it runs far better.

I bought FSX Steam edition when it was newly released for $5, and have not installed it yet. My FSX Accelleration is running just fine. But when the need to re-install is there, I will certainly go for the Steam edition.

Just saw it for $4.99 at GetGamesGo (related to JustFlight/JustTrains I think). Anyway, that's the best I've ever seen it.
