FSX Video Problems

I am having a video problem while flying in FSX in that after a couple minutes of flying, the screen goes black and then blue and white vertical lines appear on the whole screen. My OS is Vista 32 bit with SP 1.

System specs are as follows:

AMD X 2 2.8 GHZ cpu
ATI 4850 vid card
4 gigs memory

Any ideas?

Hi,
Is it only with FSX or does it happen with other hardware intensive software.

Other apps work fine. FSX with Acceleration just started to have this problem. So I re-installed FSX with no updates and it worked fine. Certainly a mystery to me.

Sounds like it might have been heat or driver related..

In your CCC do you manually run the vid cards fan at higher speeds to keep it cooler?

No. I run the fan at the default setting. Possibly increasing the fan speed will help. Thanks for the suggestion.

Also kill Bloom and DX10 if you are on XP......

If you run some ported over FS9 planes into Vista(FSX) and use Bloom and / or DX10 you can have issues like that too...

Yeah sounds like a heat problem, plus as warm weather comes the ambient temp may rise a few within the case. I had this problem once, the GPU fans were on 40% turned to 75% and all was cleared.
