I'm trying to open this file and it says I don't have permission. I had this computer set to open this with IE and it would .. every time.
I reinstalled XP because of a HD crash and I'm having all kinds of problems now.
Can someone help with this?
Thanks

Hmm, can you open it the usual way from Start Menu/Program Files/Microsoft Games/ Microsoft Flight Simulator X/FSX SDK ?

I never thought about that . but ........... No, it wont open that way either.
I had no problems with this before. I could click on it, choose open and it would open.

Sounds like your permissions are Wonked out

It is a two step process to set the permissions for a particular folder. First you must enable the security tab which will not show up on XP at default. Then you must give your self full control of the folder which should extend that setting to all files in the folder.

//------------------------------------- Step 1

Navigate to the folder so you can see the folder do not open it.

On the menu bar select tools/folder options

Select the view tab

scroll to the bottom and uncheck use simple file sharing

Click apply

Click OK

//-------------------- step 2

Right click the folder and select properties

Go to the security tab.

If your log on name does not appear in the group or user names window you will need to add it.

Click Add

Type the log on name you use for the computer then click check names

It should append the PC name to your user name.

Click OK

Highlight your user name and check the full control box.

Click apply and click ok

The system should now have given you full control of all files in that folder.

I did all that Dave, and I still get access Denied.
I'm also haveing a big problem getting the ToolBox to show in FSX.

double check each file and make sure you are assigned full access. it should have extended the permissions to each file but it also sounds like it is messed up
