To all,

The entire Marianas pack has now been uploaded for all to enjoy. Outstanding work, Chris! :salute:

That was a mega project! Thanks for all your blood, sweat, any maybe even tears, on this one!:salute::salute::salute::ernae:

Hi Guys,

Thanks for posting this little "announcement" thread, Rami. I took the precaution of killing the link to the b-4 version. ;)

I will quote the write up in the file library:
This is the final version of the MR Marianas project. This pack includes all files in the mr_marianas_b-4 pack and adds West Field, Tinian; Tinian Harbor, an American version of Iwo Jima and misc. updates and corrections since version b-4 was posted at SOH.

This scenery cuts a broad swath that follows what one might call The B-29 Trail. Starting in the south with the five American airfields on Guam. It ends in the North at the Japanese airfield and harbor at Chichi Jima in the Bonin Islands. Along the way the airfields on Rota, Tinian, Saipan, Pagan, Iwo Jima (Japanese and American versions) and Haha Jima mark the way. Many have contributed both time and actual scenery to this project- credits are in the Readme! The basis for the project was the LOD9 mesh provided by Jean Pierre “Jean Bomber”. I just filled in the LOD9 mesh area with new islands and airfields. The goal of this project is to provide a complete collection of the late war B-29 airfields for CFS2. Airfields which can now be populated by the numerous new B-29s created by Ghost Rider/Gnoopey
- icing on the cake! That's about it. This collection won't please every one- it isn't even 100% to my liking. But it is pretty dang fun. Enjoy!
A couple of notes:

  • Several new scenery objects and object packs are used in this final version that were not present in the previous versions. They are listed and marked with *** at my website.
  • I changed all of the asphalt runway surfaces to matting texture because I just don't like the look of the standard asphalt runway texture. Its unrealistic but that's too bad- the matting texture looks much better. ;)
  • There are now two versions of Iwo Jima- Japanese and American. The scenery comes with a scenery directory and a GSL for each. Install both scenery directories and activate one or the other as you wish. The 2 different Iwo GSLs are a bit more problematic. You will need to use GSLMan.exe to swap them in and out as needed.
That's about all I can think of. Enjoy!

Chris,

You're welcome. It made more sense to use the same thread. :wiggle:

MR,
I just downloaded your file and was amazed that it's only 5.5 Mb. For such a small file to hold so much scenery in such detail is truly awe inspiring. Thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into this smashing piece of real estate. As I said in another thread, it's your recent work that goes with Dick's "new" mesh that has inspired me to create a PTO install for the first time ...
thanks again,
Ro

Chris, after lurking here and following the progress of this newest scenery package I am off to find a copy of CFS2 out in the world, Been about 6 years since I have flown this combat sim, and now, with this Marianas set:jump: you have out-done yourself! Cheers! Mike

I appreciate the comments folks. Hope you have some nice flights!

I just noticed that in my zeal to clean up my attachments I also managed to get rid of the album that showed what these airfields are supposed to look like- so that everyone can tell whether or not they have installed successfully- ya never know. ;)

I'll try to put that album back together later tonight.

Cheers,
MR

Well Chris, you may not feel that it's a 100% to your liking, but it's a 150% to mine. :applause:

I really appreciate you adding the Iwo Jima fighter strip. A helluva lot better then I could have ever done.

Now there is a great scenery for our Stangs and Tbolts to take off from and hook up with the bomber stream!

Thanks Mask!

Chris,

Just let me know and I can edit the download, making any changes you deem necessary.

I still haven't been able to download it.

JAMES

Hiya James,

I think what must be happening is that you are trying the mr_marianas_b-4.zip link at the beginning of this thread. That link is dead. It was for the 4th and last beta release prior to the release of the "Full" and final MR_Marianas scenery pack.

The "Full" version, mr_marianas.zip, is available here at the SOH Add-Ons Library- CFS2 Scenery section.

Sorry for the confusion.

MR

Hi Rami,

Thanks for offering to make changes to the download if necessary. So far, I think everything is OK. But will let you know if anything comes to my attention- either thru user feedback or thru my own fiddling around.

However, WRT editing stuff: in light of Eoraptor1's comment, would it be possible to kill off that mr_marianas_b-4.zip link all the way- the one in the first post on this thread?

Maybe substitute the following:
The "Full" version of the the MaskRider Marianas pack, mr_marianas.zip, is available here at the SOH Add-Ons Library- CFS2 Scenery section.
Thanks,
MR

PS: maybe we could also kill off- as in, make disappear- the MaskRider Marianas Pt1 download from the SOH Add-Ons library? :)
