Full MR Marianas pack uploaded to SOH!

FMI: which Stangs and TBolts do you use?MR
Well, for the Tbolt it's http://simviation.com/1/download-file?file=km_P-47N_Chautauqua.zip

Tbolt Skins, 1.) http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?catid=57&linkid=1951
2.) http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?catid=57&linkid=1989

Then there is the Alphasim p-51D I updated for CFS2 here in the CFS2 Other section. It's the model only since that's all there was permission to upload. KH has .dp files, prop textures, and other goodies on the same page.

A Pacific theater skin by Sopwith C. http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?catid=57&linkid=1144 is in this package.

I'm kinda hoping there will be some more Pacific theater skins done by the masters but, time will tell. :ernae:

Just got home, Chris-
All of us PTO buffs are forever in your debt - spectacular work, as always, and thank you!

Hiya Dave,

Thanks for the info about the TBolts and Stangs. I will be getting those.

PS: wonder how to get these links tied into a single word? Highlight the word, then "Insert Link":ques:
First copy the web address you wish to link to.

Second lets say that the following is the word you wish to use as a hypertext link (hyperlink):

LINKWord

Hi-lite the word you wish to serve as a hyperlink:

View attachment 22076

Then left click the "insert Link" icon above.

View attachment 22074

When the dialogue box opens, paste in the web address you copied above "Please enter the URL of your link:" box and click "ok".

View attachment 22075

That should do it.

Plus I think you might need to be in "advanced edit" to get all this stuff to happen.

Chris

Thank You

Hi MR,

Wow! A tremendous piece of scenery building as usual. You have surpassed yourself this time. I had a minor problem with a couple of runways at Isley floating 65 metres above the ground, but reading the remarks by Kelti and other forum members helped me to locate the problem overlap and everything is now fine. It's a really great enhancement of the Pacific theatre. Well done.
Dick.

Happy to hear that so many are enjoying the Marianas pack. Very gratifying indeed!

I am going to spend a little time getting my CFS2 install tidied up and up to date. My hangar is out of date. I have many still to be unzipped AC and skins waiting in my downloads box to be installed.

Also I want to get some mainland Japan scenery installed so I can have fun running some major round trip missions from the Marianas and Iwo.

What does everyone use for mainland Japan scenery? I know there is some good stuff out there.

Redundant Pacific Coastal Flattens

Greetings all,

If anyone is using Richard "Rhumbaflappy" Ludowise's older Pacific Coastal Flattens, the following files can be deleted so as not to conflict with Maskrider's Marianas:

M5082551.BGL Rota, Tinian, Saipan
M5082571.BGL Guam
M5122551.BGL Farallon de Pajaros
M5122571.BGL Sarigan, Pagan, Agrihan
M5162511.BGL Minamiioto
M5162531.BGL Iwo Jima, ChiChijima
M5202511.BGL MukoJima

In addition, if Jean Bomber's Truk scenery is installed, these files can be deleted:

M5042671.BGL Truk
M5042711.BGL Truk

Hi to all !:salute:
Nice goal Chris !
icon22.gif

It's always good to complete cleanly this "well done" project :applause::ernae: even if it's not 100% to your liking,it's always possible to upgrade it later ...

...was amazed that it's only 5.5 Mb...
..that needs many hours to do these some Mb that alter so much the game with so few impact in the fps.

I think also that is not necessary to keep in the ..CFS2\SCENEDB\world\scenery the default lod9 bgl as :
rota9.bgl
saipan_tinian9.bgl
guam9.bgl
iwajima9.bgl
and
truk9.bgl
,if you have the customized Truk installed.
..perhaps that case was debated about before on another thread ???? recently I was sometimes elsewhere :mixedsmi:

Absolutely loving it all Chris...finally got around to finishing my late war install setup (had a lot of small but crucial details to check off). Your final Marianas pack was the capstone. Well done! :medals:

:salute:

SPLENDID!!!

Wonderful job MR!

This scenery coupled with Rhumbaflappy's new low LOD mesh files (LOD8 needs to be deactivated,....did I do my homework or not?...;)) is the absolute best addon for the Pacific!

THANK YOU!!!

I only have a curiosity: you added an extra exclude file among the excludes which need to be placed in CFS2 root \SCENERY folder. I am speaking of "0_marianas_xcld.bgl".

I noticed it dates back to April 25th, but it was not included in your previous beta releases. What part of the stock scenery does it exclude?

Cheers!

Hiya KH!

I commend you on your unflagging enthusiasm and attention to detail! You get an A++! ;)

I refer you to this post back away in this thread. The exclude.zip attached to the post is now gone due to recent house cleaning.

But yes, 0_marianas_xcld.bgl is the very first exclude I made for this pack- way back whenever it was.

It excludes the stock rivers, roads and shorelines on the 4 main Marianas Islands: Guam, Rota, Tinian and Saipan. It was some how left out of the B-3 and B-4 packs.

In any event, yes, there should be 4 Marianas pack related excludes in the main cfs2 scenery folder:

  1. 0_marianas_xcld.Bgl (Guam, Rota, Tinian and Saipan)
  2. 0_xcld_bonins.Bgl (actually it covers the Volcano Islands- Iwo Jima, etc.- I was not thinking clearly);))
  3. 0_xcld_bonins_northern.Bgl (the actual Bonin Islands- Haha Jima, Chichi Jima and all that)
  4. 0_xcld_marianas_northern.Bgl (the northern Marianas- everything north of Saipan up thru Ferrallon de Pajaros including Pagan Island)
Cheers,
MR

.........

Thanks MR!

Eheheheheheh......my almost ex-wife (almost because full divorce will be in effect as of May 2011, thanks to Italian laws....) would have instead classified me as pedantic and boring. She used to say my attention to details makes me lose view each time of the big picture. She almost succeded in convincing me something was wrong with me. Since it's something that I can't control, I can't help it, it just happens that I see details better than some others, your praise makes me feel very good, really!

Thank you for your exhaustive explanation as well! Since you know I am making two sceneries out of one, now I know that I can use that exclude file without messing anything with my early war install, where stock fields must not be excluded out.

Cheers!

Hey Chris,

I'm having this one issue at Guam NW field. I know your Marianas has it's own mesh, so I'm not sure what's going on, only that I have screwed something up. I don't use Rhumba's mesh. Am I missing an exclude or something? What do you think?

Thanks for your help,
GR

Hiya GH,

Boy, I am not sure. Could be a couple of things.

First of all. The MR Marianas scenery is built with the assumption that Rhumba's mesh and masks are installed and that the stock mesh and masks are not installed. I think one problem you see here is that the stock mesh is still there and maybe interfering with the MR Marianas pack mesh.

Also, should any pacific coastal flatten add-ons be installed they will also interfere with the appearance of the scenery.

A couple of posts earlier KDriver listed all of the specific Rhumba mesh bgls- the ones that cover the same area as that covered by JP's lod9 mesh included in this scenery- that can be unloaded or put into a holding folder so that they do not interfere with this scenery.

I guess the same can be done for stock mesh. Here is a quick list of all the stock mesh.bgls that I could find that you can put into a holding folder so that they won't interfere with the the mesh in the Marinas scenery pack.

  • saipan_tinian9.bgl
  • rota9.bgl
  • guam9.bgl
  • iwajima9.bgl
Don't know which specific stock mesh.bgls cover Pagan Island and/or Chichi and Haha Jima.

Bottom line is that this scenery is meant for a Rhumba mesh and mask world. :)

Cheers,
Chris

EDITED: You might want to look at my latest post to the Rhumbaflappy ... Warehouse thread. I think what really needs doing is something along the lines of what I am getting at in that post.
MR

Thanks Chris, no luck so far... Thus far, I have been chicken to try Rhumba's mesh and watermasks. I'm sure they are beautiful, but I get the idea that it's quite a bit of work and complicated. That anomaly I showed you is the only one I can think of in my virtual world, everything else looks pretty darn good to me. I'd like to use the higher LOD mesh, but is there a quick and dirty way to install it, one that I can reverse if I don't like it?
Thanks for your help,
GR

Isn't it funny how ex wives continue to twist the knife around while it's still in your back long after they are gone? Please realize that at this point in your life there is no longer anyone around who feels that way. Should you ever hear that voice again (you know, the one that twists the knife) please come on back to the out-house and visit. We think you are one of the coolest and most interesting guys around.

All this reminds me, Dandolo my friend, how are things going in your family? (I know, I'm a thread stealer, but its that dad gummed ADHD). :wavey:

Obscure Quotations...

Beware the Ex-Wife who uses quotes from Family Guy [Peter Griffin's commentary, having become a self-described genius after winning a "rigged" game of Trivial Pursuit] to describe you, Stefano....

You're okay by ME !
