Hi guys, long time no see! :wavey: Nice to see there's still some life around the basement! I played CFS2 last week for the first time in....I don't know how long. Needless to say, the bug ain't dead yet! In fact, I started tinkering with a new pack for my favorite plane, the BMW801 powered Fw-190 Butcher Bird. It's based on some Il-2 sounds that I've modded and mixed with wave files I had on hand, making for a nice blend of warbird music. It should be ready for upload sometime this weekend, barring any unforseen drama. I'd forgotten how much fun it was just putting these things together! :USA-flag:

It's good to see your return LD. I enjoy and use a lot of your mixology in many of my planes. And enjoy it very much!

Just wanted to say, Thanks!:ernae:

Good to see you back Lawdog!

We can't wait to see what you come up with. Be careful though, it's hard to leave. There's always something interesting going on down here...:running:

Great to see ya down in the Basement again. I look forward to your new Butcher Bird sound pack. Your sound packs give voices to most of my planes....and they number in the THOUSANDS when all installed in CFS2 and FS2004.

Feedback...

Lawdog,

To give you feedback, I must say I am extremely impressed. I listened to it with my sub-woofer turned on, and the whine of the startup sequence followed by the "rat-i-tat-tat-tat" of the cylinders firing up one after the other brought the grin of a five year-old at Christmas to my face.

I had to go back and listen to it again, and again, and again!

I also think the engine idle is just about right, it has the "feel" of a radial, and you've got the throaty growl as the throttle advances down pat as well. I can't imagine what needs tweaking there, but I'll make room in the sound folder for this one.

Awesome work! :salute:

Thanks for the feedback. I tweaked the startup sequence just a tiny bit, and added a little engine "pop" to the shutdown sequence for added effect. But otherwise, I think it's just about done.

Having been listening to many sound packs, I've thought of something that I don't know for sure if it could be done or not. I was thinking about a little utility that had an interface. Something that linked between the plane, sound files and config, that was linked loaded via a module or something, and running when in the simulator. As you went through the RPM range, it monitored and blended the sound file settings in the config file(s), complete through shut-down while setting the prop rotation to stop at the correct time of shut-down. Having additional adjustments to tweak at fire-up and shut down times would be a plus too.

Thinking out loud is all

Fw-190 Sounds

As promised, I've just uploaded the new soundpack for the BMW-801 radial engine. I've also included an alternate twin engine configuration for those wishing to use these sounds with multi engine aircraft. I'm still a little rusty after all this time away from the basement, so if any problems are found, please let me know so I can fix them. I've tested these sounds extensively in both single and twin engine configuration, so hopefully they'll meet with your satisfaction. Enjoy! :salute:
