GA_C46_v2 conversion

Ready

Getting a package ready for this weekend.

braveheart77521 has put together a fine panel layout with compatible gauges. :encouragement:
He also added some other goodies to make the conversion better adapted to our sim.

Conversion Of Libarrdo Guzman's C-46 to CFS2.zip

400114239307185978.jpg

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Aircraft - American

Description: Libarrdo Guzman has graciously allowed me to convert and upload his rendition of the Curtis C-46 Comando.

Thank you Libarrdo!

This model has all animations active for cfs2 plus a beautiful virtual cockpit.

Credits for the original FS2004 aircraft:

Libarrdo Guzman, Tom Gibson, Greg Pepper

Credits for the original CFS2 aircraft:

Dave Slaski, Mack, (aka Braveheart) Kelticheart for his prop texture.

Mack put together a really nice panel with cfs2 compatible gauges in both the 2D and VC cockpit. Included are an explanation of the animation keys in the “Notes” file along with a checklist file. Also a modified air flie and damage profile.

Thank You Mack,

Enjoy, Dvslats

Really, really pretty dvslats and braveheart77521. Can't wait.

Thanks Worthless. :wavey:

Hey guys and gals, I received a PM concerning "crash to desktop" with this bird. :frown-new:

Looks like the culprit is the Sperry mkIII auto pilot gauge.
For now, rename it in your gauges folder or move it out completely.

I'll see about getting it fixed in the panel.cfg.

Till Later, Dave

Exellent work Dave! thank u! I like to fly in cfs2 with unarmed but beautifull planes!:encouragement:
Cheers friend!

sperryIII gauge

Dave

The sperryIII gauge works fine in all my installations of CFS2. However, I suggest that it might help to delete the autopilot section of the aircraft folder. I discovered it would not work in the VC panel of the C-46A, so I substituted other gauges there. The replacement air file and DP seemed to clear up and neutralize the Sperry gauge, and allow the replacement auto pilot to work fine. But I am still trying to figure out what the problem is?
I am working on a version of the panel with a static Sperry autopilot.

Mission and others

If you are interested in additional skins for this plane, go to Simivation. In the search section, type in c-46A, any. Two pages should come up. At the bottom of the first page are three skins:

C-46A China (OD)

C-46A Tinker Bell (OD)

C-46A China Doll (Silver)

These are skins for the GA_C46A.

Its a great plane, Thanks Dave,

Mack (Braveheart)

I finally had a chance to load the other skins you sent me Mack.

Textures are done by mvg3d, no less. Figured it was time for the OD scheme after seeing the original silver several hundred times during the conversion.
Don't get me wrong, Libardo's original silver is nicely done. Just time for a change. ;-)

Hey guys,

This is amazingly detailed. I love both the panel and virtual cockpit. The textures are top-notch too...I like that OD Green skin! :very_drunk:

Great work, everyone! :wavey:

Interim Panel

Thanks for the compliments Rami and mvg3d. :peaceful:

The real work was done by Mr. Guzman and others that did the design work. My hat is off to them.

For the time being I have put together a panel layout with basic CFS2 gauges for those with CTD problems.
It is not as accurate as Mack's, but it will do for a holdover. You'll be in the air at least.

Included in the file is an .mdl with lower reflectivity for olive drab paint schemes.
An airfile fitted to this gauge set-up plus aircraft.cfg, borrowed from one of bearcat241's conversions.

The file is in 7.zip format because it really cuts down the size of the compressed archive.
I hope this will not be a problem.

Just remove the goofy a and spaces.

Splendid bird, Dvslats!

Many thanks to you Dvslats, to the original authors and to all the people involved in the conversion project.

Revised panel

Revised Panel

I removed the Sperry III gauge, and replaced it with a static picture in the main panel. I replaced many of the gauges with standard ones (P-38F, etc) for those having trouble. I also cleaned up the quadrant panel. I also added a few new gauges. I included a revised gauge file.

If you are happy with the original panel, just remove the Sperry III gauge and replace the main panel BMP inclosed.

Hey Mack,

Tried it out and it looks and functions perfectly.

Our highly competent librarian swapped the old one with your revision.
It's now in the original D/L.

Till Later,
Dave
