• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

There is a download from the site that requires no game cd to use or install. Install option 3 is where to download complete sim. It is free also. Regards,Scott

I actually had a very small hand in that, crossing the aisle from the WW2 side (upon request from the main developers) to skin a bird or two and tweak a little bit of the GUI! The FS-SDOE community was always one of the best.:applause:

You don't need the original game for the latter two install options (and they're easier).

While very quite these days, the community still exists at http://www.openplanesim.com/

It's really more than a game . It's a combat flight simulator that is a challenge to fly and fight in. Easy for most computers to play. I use Win 7 64 bit with no trouble to report.

While we were able to improve FS-SDOE dramatically in a lot of ways, there was never any capacity for a dynamic campaign or a quick combat option. Development has effectively ended. We did what we could. Given that it was a contemporary of CFS1, keeping it alive and viable as long as we did was an achievement to be proud of, but we pretty much polished things off a few years ago, although if anything, the WW1 version does get some attention from time to time.
