Gary Herbert's B17G

Morton,

I haven't done anything with this particular B-17. Ages ago I think that the author had one for FS 7 and CFS 2, but it was pretty frame intensive as I recall.

I guess I've been so pleased with Gramps' Donationware B-17 series that I haven't experimented with anything else since they came out.

I found this B17G at Simviaton:

This model is actually very nice! I tried the conversion trick on it but there's some animation snags to it. I wonder, has anyone maybe done a CFS2 version of it?

Morton

Hi Morton,

I converted it to CFS2 and I met animation snags as well. It is a nice model, I am still using HerbieG's very old B-17E and F and there is a nice skin collection for this aircraft over at Simviation as well.

I did props and exh effect for this plane, but I agree it's framerate heavy, it's not multi-LOD and it's full of details. The animation problems I encountered, if I remember correctly were the rudder partly bent to one side and the elevator trim tabs staying up.

Cheers!

No Joy

I downloaded and attempted to convert this B-17 last night, with zero success. It even refuses to adjust the collision bubble !

Grrrr.....

Ok guys,
I asked because I like the model and especially the way the textures are mapped. But if it's a frame hogger then I think maybe i'll use another one.....
