GAS Super Stearman IB75A Pre-release Sale

To GAS: I downloaded the Super Stearman last night for MSFS 2020 and want to convey my highest praise. This is such a joy to fly. The attention to detail is supreme. Most notable is your sound suite. Wow.. the rumble of that big radial could almost slam the pictures off the wall.
I've only found one little nit. During mag check, the max rpm occurs when Left is selected, not both. I don't have this issue with other AC.

The ground handling is what is expected. Some sixty years ago I flew IRL a Stearman crop duster with a 450HP conversion. I sort of expected to have to dance more on the rudder, but was pleasantly surprised.

For anyone on the fence: This aircraft is a labor of love and it's quality is first rate. Almost want to crank a fan up and have it blow in my face while flying to relive days gone by. The model, the flight dynamics, the sounds and yes, documentation is beyond all expectations. Great job, Golden Age Simulations! Thank you for this wonderful, fun to fly model.

Currently considering this seemingly superb aircraft, but just to make sure I understand things well, please confirm:
1) You need to go through all real-world procedures, so you can't simply hit Ctrl+E and start flying?
2) This is strictly for MSFS 2020, and there are no plans to convert it to 2024?
Any reply much appreciated.
Thanks in advance, best regards.

@Stearman,

Sorry to say that, but yesterday (post #21) I answered precisely that:
- the aircraft is developed and supported on FS20,
- the aircraft has an advanced engine management and takes into account the phases of WARM-UP and the maximum RPMS
- the aircraft still offers the basic function CTRL+E because I have coded these procedures for people who want to fly quickly,
- the plane works perfectly under FS24: it is flightable and all developed functions are operational

Although, it is not a 100% FS24 plane because it will not be usable in the Career mode and will not use the pre-flight visit proposed by Asobo: that said, our pre-flight owner works perfectly.

All this is clearly indicated in the documentation, which according to some is very well done (thank you for these compliments) so thanks for reading carefully, we spent several weeks to make it easy to read and as comprehensive as possible.

All clear now, thank you very much.
Since I don't intend to get FS24 anytime soon, I'm sure the Super Stearman will make me enjoy FS20 yet for a while (y)

Another request that came to us from support is the fact that during the tests of magnetos, the RPMS did not seem to be modified.
It seems that the problem is a coding error on my part in the file engine.cfg, heading [PISTON_ENGINE].
This is a bad value assigned to the variable single_magneto_efficiency. which is the reason.

This parameters is used for th efficiency ratio of the engine if it is designed for 2 magnetos but only 1 is currently active.
The current value is 1.08 and it's not correct !!!.
I will test this afternooon whith single_magneto_efficiency = 0.92 to see if this has a positive impact.

PS: the default value should be 0.97 and I don't remeber when and why this has been modified

A little surprise that I discovered via Dennya and another French user.

In fact during the design phase of the effects to be added I had thought about a flame effect triggered by the engine breakage. I had added this effect (designed at the base for the fireplace of my Calypso boat and which ended up in the maritime traffic of Henrik later).
During the tests, I was able to abuse this plane, I never managed to see this effect. I concluded that it must have had a problem and I did not think about it.
It was only yesterday on a picture of DennyA on page 2 that I thought again and especially this morning when seeing the capture below ... the effect works well :monkies:

As you can see on the guge betwwen the two red switch :
- oil temperature is over 260°C
- oil pressure is 0
- CHT temperature are over 500 °F
There are very bad parameters for an engine

Various excellent repaints have popped up within this thread.
Are they being released into the SO library, or via .to??

I created a Canadian repaint for the Stearman, tried to make a downloadable zip package to share, but it wouldn't show in sim. So I tried the old FSX method of copying just the texture folder into the main folder, adding a aircraft.cfg entry, and it appears. I don't know why the community folder package won't work, once I figure that out, I'll be glad to share.

Mine will come to.to, but like fnerg I need to find time to sit down and make the packages, hopefully this weekend.

In spite of what I do, I cannot get past PayPal! It's the most confusing site on the web, too much security and questions, text to phone, etc. I am logged in to PayPal, but cannot get any further. I'll just have to wait until it hits the market or Marketplace on MSFS.

@Fnerg,

For the repaints, if you copy the texture folder into the main folder, adding a aircraft.cfg entry, don't forget to regenerate the layout.json. You can simply add the informations needed with a Notepad.
If this step is necessary for FS20, it is essential in FS24 because a simple modification of a line in a text file and the plane will have problems during loading. In FS24, the date and size verification of each file declared in the layout.json are now effective.

The repaints maded by B18volpar (aka "Pascal") and mines would be uploaded on SOH if possible

Marvelous aircraft, great sounds & after skimming the POH, quite stunned by the work that has gone into the engine modelling.

I have a query about an Autopilot.
Ignoring the sacrilegious aspect for the moment - due to eyesight issues, long flights with AP assistance tend to be my preferred approach.
I have a simple keyboard AP set up for aircraft that don't load with an AP, [Toggle the "Z" key to set AP On & Off, CTRL A gives Altitude Hold & CTRL H gives Heading Hold.]
This works on most 3rd party aircraft I fly in MSFS 2020 & has worked for a couple of 3rd party in MSFS 2024.
I had a look in the Stearman' s CFG folders & noted that AP appeared to be coded as available.
However, so far I haven't been able to get it to "take" during a flight.
Should my keyboard AP work, [I have checked the keyboard coding's], or does something in the aircraft's coding prevent that?
