  • Special Server Maintenance

Just when you think you have everything running some what better...

You get a message from the Hosting company. Short story they need to move us to a new server. I have been working with them to plan a good date for all concerned. Here is what we have come up with as a schedule.

    1. November 4th 17:00 -5UTC shut off the forums and start backup proceedures. During this time there will be no access to the forums or the Resource Section.
    2. November 5th Continue with Backups and download same until complete.
    3. November 6th 7:00 turn over server to hosting company to move system to new server
    4. November 7th - 8th restore backups and upgrade forum software.

If all goes well we should be back online on November 8th.

To keep you updated we will post updates on AVSIM forums.

    Thank you for your support.

GAS Super Stearman

Crop duster version is it possible to have this with standard wings and no hood, no sparyers? The duster looks great!
The sprayers and hood will be configurable through the configuration manager. The wings not. A single cockpit version is also available on the Super Stearman. It was never our intent to recreate Sanderson’s model.

Modeling of the sprayer/duster is essentially complete with a few things left to do plus textures.

wait...this duster - with removable hood and spray bars is also being modeled??
Outstanding!!

So many paint schemes possible...endless really

sure the one has a chopped vertical fin and the other a huge spinner, but these paints would look terrific on this model, with or without the hood..

Wreck one... take apart... load it up... and rebuild her!

Funny windshield. :biggrin-new: but for Crop duster without the hood its a necessity.

Is the spinner to counteract the weight of the spray solution in the tank behind the pilot?

Did Stearmen ever have canopies in military service, maybe in cold climates, like the Tiger Moth in Canada?

my understanding is that the chem hopper is in front of the pilot position, in what would otherwise be the front or forward cockpit. Behind the pilot would be too far aft for the CG. The weight
of the pesticide/weed killer is significant...

The spinner is probably typical of and part of the prop assembly... Lot's of variables available on the market from what I know of.

Thank you. I never knew that. Actually, the canopy looks very similar to the Tiger Moth's. Is it a version we can hope for sometime?

Is there much weight in it? I am wondering if its there for streamlining or CG balance?

The NZ Fletcher's have a rear hopper location for top dressing.

Here is the AG version in the clean configuration which is the default upon loading. Working on whether or not I can provide the option for stock wings in the config manager. I think so. Stand by.

Here's hoping for the stock wing on the duster

I would definitely appreciate a sprayer/duster with the stock wings.
