im sorry about this but no one here seems to understand...i take three hydrocodone a day...yes i need it..it was filled on may 29th,90 count one tab 3 times a day for 30 days...may had 31 days in it...i ran out,but because i was out on the weekend..i called in friday and asked for the refill...it needed a doctors refill..the nurse saw the date of refill as the 29th..said..this isnt the 29th and refused to fill it..now ive gone two days..going on three without my med because this idiot cant look at a callender...i called the drs office to complaine and have her LOKK at the callender and count..and she hung up on me...im at my wits end
 
I apologize if it's too personal, but if you don't mind sharing, what injury and/or surgery did you have that neccessitated such an aweful drug? I've been there before, when nothing else works but something heavy. I was actually morphined up for several days in theatre while field doctors tried to decide what they could and couldn't do with a severe injury I sustained. It's wierd looking at your own gnarly injury and feeling nothing.
 
I'm sorry you're having to go through such a hassle, especially while in pain. I've been there and I don't wish that on anyone.

My Doc is really great. When he prescribes 90 days worth of Oxycodone, he specifies 100 just to prevent what happened to you. Also, since I'm able to vary the number of painkillers I take per day, I always have a stash of 20-30 for emergencies.

Hydrocodone is pretty heavy stuff. I had to take it after this surgery. Tigisfat I kinda know what you mean about the numbness I also had an epidural so I couldn't feel my chest from my neck to my belly button. It wasn't tingly or anything it just felt like it wasn't there. After they pulled the epidural out I was on morphine for a few days which sucked I was queasy, and felt like throwing up would make me feel better but I couldn't. Then I went on Norco which is hydrocodone and tylenol mixed together. I was so scared I would get addicted to it so I weaned myself to 1 a day taken in halfs as soon as I could and filled in with advil.
It's nasty stuff...pain.

So sorry to hear of your battles with pain AND the doctor's office. It's bad enough having to deal withtake such a medication; let alone fight for it.

I occasionally take hydrocodone for neck pain. But the effects after it "wears off" is enough for me to think twice before taking it. Oh, it does take the pain away. But I get really bad headaches afterwards.

I know how you guys feel.....I've been in constant pain 24/7 for the past year following an accident in May '08. I haven't had a full nights sleep in that time. I suffered multiple prolapsed discs in my neck and had one replaced by a prosthesis last September
After the op the sharp pain and pins and needles sensations down my arms and legs were gone .....only to be replaced by a dull,sickening pain ever since. I'm currently taking Lyrica 150mg three times a day along with Lexapro anti depressants. If things don't improve soon I'm looking at having one or more discs replaced in the not too distant future.

Sorry to hear about your troubles...my best friend is a Pharmacist and even he has issues dealing with the staff/nurses at Dr.'s offices... he has been called names, hung up on, everything... and as for the Pharmacy itself.... I know all they had to do was understand your dilemma, but they deal with people every single day that try to refill their prescriptions days, even weeks early!! mostly because these idiots sell this stuff on the street! My friend said the best is when they come in flat out stones or drunk, WITH THEIR KIDS! and want their narcotics two weeks early!!!

Tough spot... hope everything works out...
 
If our wonderful govt. manages to take over health care - any problems we are having now will pale in comparison to what things will be like then. That scares the bejesus outa me. NC
 
its 2:50 pm pst and i just found out i still will be without my norco (hyrdocodone)yet another day as it seems..if im to beleieve my dr..the pharmacy lost the paper work.....riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight..i chewed his ass out once again...he wasnt happy..... i told him to look forward to my next visit cause we gonna have a row...

as far as my injury...i brock my back in august95,blew out 4 discs...put in 12 screws and four fusions..see pics...they are old pics..4 screws are broken and all four fusions have failed as well as DDD through out my spine,and spondylosis att several levels...
 
Nasty,nasty accident!:jawdrop: Would disc replacement surgery be beneficial in your case, Daveroo? I was originally to have fusion carried out but then the surgeon recommended a disc replacement as it has a higher sucess rate. I asked for all three to be replaced at once, but unfortunately he was unable to do so.:frown:

Daveroo, I can empathise with you and your pain as I suffered a very similar injury in 1999. I too broke my back in several places and destroyed five disc's, mostly in the lumbar region. I also fractured my sacrum in zone III causing nerve damage.

To add to the woes, the medication I was originally given caused gastric ulcers and bleeding and, to top it all off, a heart attack!! I am now off that medication and have fully recovered from the 'side effects'

Subsequently I have developed cervical spondylosis which adds to the general pain and causes problems with my arms and hands. Very recently I have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis in both of my knees. The good news (or maybe not) is because of the nerve damage and numbness caused by the broken back I can't feel too much pain in my knees.

As much as we, in the UK, moan and complain about the NHS (National Health Service), I am so very glad to have it. I do have to pay for my medication, but I buy an annual pre-payment certificate for about £100 otherwise each item would cost me £7.20 (I think) I have seven items a month which would cost me over £50 or over £600 a year.
