It's with great sadness that I read this morning that former Battle of Britain Spitfire pilot Geoffrey Wellum has passed away, aged 96:

If you haven't read his book First Light I urge you to do so, it's a fascinating account of what it was like to be there at the time.

I hope he will rest in peace.

The BBC did broadcast a television movie based on his book in 2010, under the same title as his book. I can remember that it was very nicely done.

Thanks for the youtube link. I have seen Geoffrey Wellum in a number of documentaries about the air war but never saw this docudrama so I'm watching it now.
