Gigbyte; How to take out huge Xenon ships?

Lionheart

SOH-CM-2014
Hey Mike,

What missles do you recommend for fighting the big Xenon ships with, like the J and the Q?

I was hoping the Beluga's would do it.

Also, what approach do you use in attacking them? Do you hit them first with laser fire and 'then' barrage them with missles?

I was hitting the J last night from behind as much as possible as the sides had the turrets on it. What ever their green weapons were, they hit like cannon shells on the hull of the Nemesis.

I feel the need on my next adventures, to try and figure out what the best, most lethal lasers should be against these beasts..

Hey Marlin,

Man, that would probably do it, lolol.. Sounds pretty bad in the name alone. I dont think I have even heard of that in the cheats..

It seems something amazing happened...

In my latest save, I got an email that a ship was being attacked by a Q in Bluish Snout system.

So, I went after it. There were two Xenon L's escorting it.

I think today in the two hours I have been playing, I died perhaps 30 or 40 times, lolol.. Maybe more like 30.

I found that the most powerful missles are the Hammerheads. If one goes off and you are within 2.8 clicks, you die with it. The good news is that if the Xenon L ships are around it, they go out too, lol.. Great weapon. Its more like a bunker killer.

But... They do not effect the shields. So I worked on Lasers and found the Concussion Impulse Generator has a danged good effect and causes great explosions on well protected huge hulls. So I beared down with that and tried to wear out the Q that way. Well, on about my 30th life, it worked... After hitting it continuously, using sliding loops manuveres (going at it, strafing it, then looping back immediately again and repeating), I was able to take the darn thing down.

A Boron Kracken showed up and fired a few, but didnt really do a full on head to head fight. Two small fighters also joined in. They helped a a good amount.

Goodness man.. I have learned alot in the past 2 hours on fighting super killers. This was one heck of an adrennalin rush! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.....!!!!

When that thing went up, space turned pure white. My iMac apple computer super bright LCD high pixel screen turned my room into a welding shop. I almost had to put on my welding goggles.

Nice to have taken down a Q. Very nice... :d

Hey Bill, sorry for the delay I am n the road "Again"... I think you have found out one method of binging down the big boys, I like the concussion genertors, I also use a pair of Mass Drivers when attacking these guys, the beauty of that is the Mass driver shell passes right through the shield so if you have a pair of Mass Drivers and a pair (or more) of Concussion Generators in the same wep group you are bringng down shields and hull with every hit. I also have a wep group with the High energy Plasma thrower which seems to work pretty well on shields but I foget what other weps are in that group I will check when I get home.

I agree on the missle selection the Hammerhead is a ship killer, there is one other one I have on my gunship that does help bring down shields but again I have to look when I get home.

As far as tactics, I generally try to do a strafing run from below starying at 7 oclock low, I work my way up the side and break left after I get out in front. My gun ship is fast (1100 km +) so as long as I keep moving I can generally stay away from the Xenon fire. The big guns in the Xenon Q's, L's and XL's are not really fast at locking you up so with some fancy flying you can stay out of the line of fire. I seem to recall my last encounter with a Q I finished up with 94% shield strength and 100% hull integrity, I suspect the only damage I took came from the Xenon escorts and not from the big boy.

BTW I see we have out own dedicated section now, I hit the road for a couple days and we move right up in the world :)

Many thanks Mike. Very much appreciated.

I'll try some of those lasers and tactics.

I might try to pick up that Vidar. Looks like a tough one against a Q. :d

The Nemesis has done well, but finding the right weapons is difficult.
