Hi All,

I uploaded an FSX Mission - LOL 4-Versions (Thx SOH)- Jackson Hole Glider Challenge, trying some different logic with the Glider AI, I fixed some logic towards the end, TG for the Proptrig extended logic ability - So hopefully all the correct triggers fire at finish line. Uses SimVar by Jim Keir, Love it.

My first attempt at using thermals and ridge lifts, Really have very little knowledge of the concept, Thermals shoot through the Valley - give you a slow climb. The Ridge Lifts will shoot you up 2,000 feet if hit at the right angle. I would be interested to know if you found them easy or hard.

Many Cheers - :icon29:

Hi Jetstreamsky,

not sure, I had them off, and used what FSX gave us in the Missions Editor, They work pretty good, however CumulusX and simprobe are very good prods, I will have to give it a wirl with them on.

:ernae:

Ye go and ge the updated ver of cumulus x and also there is a sim.cfg fix that gets rid of the clouds that where added with the last ver, avaliable on the aerosoft forum under soar related.

Hi Jetstream,

I did try it with CumulusX & SimProbe, made it more interesting, Actually I was doing a straight route to the start then a 268-290 degree to driggs, Usually got a 2,500 feet boost towards the Ridge. with CumulusX on I had to be more tactfull as the boost was not there. Was fun, will have to do another using CumulusX - good stuff.

The only other issue that may occur is the SimVar loading properly in the extensions directory - I would make sure it is at the top, or the auto call will not function ie. Tow Plan, exit open. exit close, tow disconnect ->
-Launch.Addon-
-Name-Mission Extension for FSX-/Name-
-Disabled-False-/Disabled-
-ManualLoad-False-/ManualLoad-
-Path-your full path\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Extensions\SimVar.exe-/Path-
-/Launch.Addon-
<LAUNCH.ADDON>
</LAUNCH.ADDON>

Hi had a quick try last night, but didn't even get to launch as it wasn't clear to me what to do and then the FAILED mission notice came up.

I've moved the SIMVAR up the list and will try again.

Hi Jetstream,

Hmmm, SimVar was not loaded, it calls the Tow Plane using the Event Procedure.

To check if SimVar is Loaded -

Crtl+Alt+Delete -> Task Manager -> Verify that SimVar.exe is running in the Processes, Should see a SimVar pop-up when launching FSX. If it is not loaded then you can just do this ->

- When you here "Call Tow Plane" - Press - Ctrl + Shift + Y, will get ya the Tow Plane - SimVar does it for you if loaded.

- you will also before takeoff manual set you speedbrake to 50% so when you takeoff it does not try to pass the Tow plane and break the cable.

- When you here "Tow Plane Disconnect at 10,000 feet" Press Shift + Y. SimVar does this for you too.

Thats it, No more SimVar call after that.

Strange, I did get a SimVar popup when FSX loaded, but a tug didn't appear other than one that landed over me moments before the Mission Fail notice appeared.

I've haven't had a chance to try it again yet since moving up the Simvar call, but I'll report on what occurs when i have.

Allan

EDIT: All works fine now.
