"Globe Swift"

Globe and TEMCO built Swifts simultaneously so even the 'original' versions differed and may have overlapped... Rear glass (wrap-over vs teardrop windows), exhaust stacks, other 'minor' bits that still are being researched.

Then add in the "modern" nose, new panels, different instruments, a sliding glass canopy (new shape and animations), uprated engines, stick vs wheel and that makes 3 models and interior models, two airfiles and it hasn't even reached the extensive re-engineering Lopresti put into the Fury (changed wings, nose again, engine again, canopy again, interior/panel again, flight dynamics again). Oh,I forgot that all the research appears magically at your door with dimensions and specs.

Yep, it should add what? about 2 or three hours of work? :icon_lol:

Here's one page of Swifts - see how many individual differences one can spot in 19 different aircraft. Oh, the choices!

That's one of the fun things about using TeamSpeak... hearing the modeler's screams (and other noises) when you ask a simple question like: "Are you going to model the corrugated ribs on the outer wing panels of the stock version?" :icon_eek:

Keep plugging away Robert! I'll be grateful that we have a Swift of any flavor available in FSX.

"And leading edge slots? Ya gotta have leading edge slots!"

"No, you don't."

"YES, you DO!"

"NO, YOU DON'T!!!"

And with that, the fish slapping ensues... :icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol:

I enjoyed Bill Lyon's Swift in FS9 so I'm looking forward to this one. This plane looks and performs like a private version of a fighter, much like a Bf-108.

I made a run at the gear this weekend. All of the linkage animations are done, and are working well. Still a lot to stuff into the wheel well...:icon_lol:

Gear animation...round two. The last post I made turned out to be more of a practice session. Now I have the door linked into the action, and I have also begun to work on the gear well.

Gorgeous detail, Robert, and I absolutely love the aircraft choice! The mechanical aspects of the complex/retractable landing gear and the choreography of it all working together, animated, are great! It reminds me a lot of the P-39 main gear.

Always looking forward to your next updates!

I've got the actuator and all of it's associated bits figured out and working...including the locking mechanism. I think the actuator is the most complex part I have ever made. :isadizzy:

I've been fleshing out the gear well stuff. I have the hydraulic lines in, the emergency retraction cable, and some texturing of the structural bits. I'm looking at fixing the shading on the external wing skin soon...:kilroy:

Looks like the build and rendering are going well Robert, thanks for sharing the " behind the scenes " of your creation with us ! Mike ;)

Fun to see how things develop Robert, thanks for sharing the images. Looks like she is coming along.
