Gloster Gladiator

Evening all!

Hope this post is okay and doesn't break any rules.

I have permission to convert/release the Simon Smeiman/FSAddon Gloster Gladiator as a native aircraft for MSFS. I thought I had a copy squirreled away with my old FSX installation, but alas... I don't!

Speaking with Francois, it appears he is not in a position to pass the files on to me. It's a bit naughty but I wonder if someone has a copy they'd be kind enough to send me? I saw it was freeware at some point but I'm unable to find a download link!

(PS. other FSAddon aircraft to come... I hope you all like British military aircraft!)

There's a different Gladiator out there for FS9/FSX that's freeware from Dave Molyneaux. I don't know if the one you're looking for was ever free.

We have the free one here with a P3D update.

Excited to see these flying station and FSAddon models come to MSFS. I hope you will make them useable in our current version as looking at the specs required I won't be able to use 2024 until I can get a new machine and don't see that happening any time soon.

"to convert/release the Simon Smeiman/FSAddon Gloster Gladiator as a native aircraft for MSFS"

Hello Redmill I had it for P3D and I would be very happy to find it for msfs 2020 or 2024 ... is there any way to get the conversion if it exists ? Many thanks in advance - Jean Marc

I can hardly wait for this thing to be released!

@lucb as a fellow Belgian, I love the work of @jankees and the many Belgian repaints that he releases!

Nearly all of my planes in FS are under Belgian livery or at least have Belgian owner in real live. Sadly there is not enough Belgium livery.

Hi @redmill,

Not wanting to always ask the same question over and over again, but any news on this one?

I haven't been flying in months now, and this would really put me in the cockpit again.

Cheers,

Priller

I have to be the bearer of bad news on this one I'm afraid:

A little while ago, I was contacted by Simon Smeiman complaining that DSD Simulations was illegally redistributing FSAddons products. I was asked to provide evidence that I have permission to convert the aircraft, which I have not yet done:

The message was apallingly written, littered with spelling mistakes and very aggressive in its nature, to the point it made me wonder if it had even come from Simon himself or someone pretending to be him. For clarity, I absolutely did receive permission to release the aircraft by Francois Dumas all the way back in 2024, but the structure of FSaddon looks a bit messy and it's not really clear to me who owns what and what I am actually able to release, assuming the message from Simon is real....

It's a shame that it's put a bit of a spanner in the works, the Gladiator, Anson civvies and an unannounced Lockheed Hudson were all far down the line and only weeks away from release, I've not yet taken down the military Anson and Lysander because they're super popular and I figured if the message from Simon turned out to be real, I'd get a takedown request and then I might engage, but I'm simply not prepared to respond to someone who thinks it's okay to send such a disrespectful message and immediately threaten legal action....

Sorry I've not got better news chaps! If I hear any more I'll be sure to update you all!

Hey,

You could contact François, the owner of FSAddons. I'm pretty sure that he'll be happy to sort this out for you. He's a member of this site. @Francois could you help in this matter please?

Cheers and good luck!

I recall when Lionheart went through a somewhat similar situation involving the Lear Fan model he had in the works in earlier sim versions when someone unknown emailed him with a Cease and Desist claiming ownership/rights to that model. All of it looked preposterous at best. I can't recall which member here suggested what I am about to, but the suggestion being to tell this unknown person to "Go Pound Sand". I have dealt with fake internet legal threats and attempted fake blackmail myself a few times. Usually they never meet the put up or shut up standard too well.

I sincerely hope this turns out to be either a fake, or fixable. I really enjoy the Anson, and back in the days of FSX wrote a glowing review of the FSaddon model for several outlets/websites. It is a very worthy addition to FS2020, and I would hate to see it become unavailable.
