Gloster Gladiator

Are the downloads on the Icarusgold site the new ones? The readme has a January date, and there aren't all the textures shown here. Bill
 
Just tried it myself using the latest firefox.. i get that same error message after pressing the free user button.. getting sick of all these download sites that advertise free downloads and use it as a hook to get you to buy a subscription.... Thety should be straight up about it and go for full subscription if thats what they are trying to do..
 
I'm afraid I did something very weird.

When Jan Kees and I went to the flightsim weekend, we were discussing the Icarus Gold Gladiator. After Jan Kees had described the layout of the textures, we more or less came to the conclusion that the layout of the textures was very similar to the textures used in IL2.

When I came across a template for the IL2 Gladiator, Jan Kees made the test and we knew our assumption was right.

So far nothing strange.

But looking at the IL2 textures for the Gladiator I saw a repaint done depicting "Charity" before it had received its camouflage scheme and was still stationed onboard the HMS Glorious. Again the repaint looked far too dirty for my taste and I decided to do a fresh repaint based on template I had found.
There was only one problem, I don't have the Icarus Gladiator...... :d

So I asked Roger to test the textures and adjusted them according his comments.

You can see the result below on the (WIP) screenshots taken by Roger. It is nothing really fancy, but when anyone would like to have them I will upload them.

These are absolutely marvelous textures. This is what the Gladiator actually looked like in her natural metal finish. Huub; PLEASE upload your FAA textures!! I have a question for both of you: can you be bribed, with lavish praise, to please do more of these? The existing 3 SQ K6147, 72 SQ, 73 SQ, 73 Sq K7958, 87 SQ, and K6140 would all look dramatically improved with this type texture overhaul.

Lastly: for Icarus - this (with the new textures) is very nearly the best bi-plane ever done (IMHO) for Flt Sim. The ONLY thing missing now is for you to make a update that will allow us proud customers to open the canopy without the door opening (make the door open respond to a separate key function). We need to be able to fly the Gladiator like it was frequently flown - with the canopy open (and door closed). I IMPLORE you to make this modification.

there are actually technical problem to make this and time needed to realize... but is possible we will do on future as we can...before there will be a patch with a better gun view,new skin and new arfile

Hi Bill, glad you like them.

I was planning on doing a few more pre-war Glads, and a couple of Swedish ones as well, but as I have a few more projects going on, it may take a while. If you have a bit of patience?

I hate it when textures are mirrored, or used in different places....but this is the strangest one yet. So the Gladiator has engines in its wheels too?

I assume you guys prefer the first version?
 
Thanks icarus :).. just found out i'm gonna be majorly tight this month, but january comesa, i want this, especially since you seem to be one of very few people that knows about those engines being started with a shotgun shell.. Thats pretty detailed :) ..

By the way.. I've been over your site a hundred times looking for that Gotha 229 you have on your banner and i cant find it.. i cant tell you how much i want that plane ::lol;; i love it..
