Good 3rd party defragger?

I've been thinking I need to defrag more often (preferrably automatically) especially now that I'm back to FSX again these days. Any recommendations on a good 3rd party defrag util? I've heard the default XP defragger is less than good at what it does for whatever reason.

A Google search turned up OO Defrag, Perfectdisk and Diskkeeper... and too may different opinions as to which is better. I was hoping there might be some sort of concensus here. What do you guys use?

I use Ultimate Defrag 2008. I did have O & O but I can't remember why I didn't like it. Ultimate Defrag seem very good and can be set to auto. I don't have it set that way but it can be. O&O once installed leaves something in the registry file you have to take out by editing the registry file other wise you get a message every time you boot up. It says some like "Can't check disk missing file will skip disk check". Many don't know it is O&O doing this. But if you reinstall O&O that message stops.. :173go1:

Thanks...Its taking some time, but I'm going to get them back close to where before the crash one day....LOL:help:

I'm using a program called Smart Defrag and find that it is pretty good and fast, besides just defragging it also gives u the option to optimize your HD.

IOBIT Smart Defrag

it gets constant updates and works very well for free....

I run AVG 8.0 overnight with the auto shutdown on completion enabled
then just clean the recycle bin and run the defragger in the morning on startup
I also run the defrag right before flying FSX everytime and clean both drives - it takes about 10 minutes to analyze and defrag both of 'em

make sure you have a good anti-spyware program or two
I run Spy-Bot search and destroy for one (freeware)
it is always updated and can really speed up your rig if you've never used a spyware catcher before

I use O&O Defrag and like it. It's the preferred Defragger of NickN at Simviation. His OS and FSX Setup and Tuning Guides are well respected.

best one is O&O defrag on a review between best 10 defragger program it won for better defragger program

For freeware I use JK defrag which offers standard.exe or command line versions. Evidently it's a favorite of gamers.

I've been using O&O Defrag for the last few years......excellent program with a wide range of defrag options. Do not use a defrag program on an SSD drive however.

I use Auslogics disk defrag which I was told was 'the geek's choice'. Seems OK to me.
