• There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Hey guys,

If you hadn't heard the news...the initial suspected cause for our "blackout" was DDOS attacks and other hacker assaults. However, further evaluation and research led to a surprising analysis and conclusion; a few lines of bad code and processes were causing SOH to literally "turn on itself," causing the high server loads and crashes.

This final analysis took a while to reach because it is the last thing you'd expect, and with those processes turned off, we're back in the happy hunting ground.

....." WE HAVE SEEN THE ENEMY, AND IT IS OURSELVES!" Sorry , couldn't resist. Glad to see that it is back. Thanks Ickie, et al!:encouragement::wavey:

Good morning,

This also gives me an opportunity to pass along that when SOH is down, you can find information at www.sim-outhouse.net

While I am happy to answer emails from concerned simmers and will pass along information I have, it does get a little tedious when I have to answer forty of them.

Good advice regarding the .net sight Rami. I was doing that very thing. It was reassuring to know what was going on, and Ickie kept us updated through the whole process. Thanks Ickie.

Hats Off!

Hats off to you guys, Rami! Thank Gawd you found the problem. The woild is gettin' ta be a scarey pu-lace!

Thanks very much.

Cheers!:ernaehrung004:
