Goodspeed Airport

Here are a few final pics of the airport. I would like to get a few Beta Testers to give this one a try just to ensure it's compatibility with other setups (not available for P3DV5). PM me if interested.

This is not a seasonal scenery, it will work for Spring and Summer but there are no variations for Fall, Winter or Hard Winter. There is a night texture however so flights into 42B at night are encouraged.

Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, Block Island is where I fly a lot.
Goodspeed will make a great new destination in the region.
My GPU will be replaced next week and I should get my simming rig back up and running very soon - looking forward to this one, Ed. Thank-you.

Looking great Ed.

Too bad I no longer have FSX installed.

Moved on to P3Dv5, X-Plane and sometimes FS2020.

Will enjoy short hops between here and your Elizabeth Field, Fishers Island airport Ed. Nice to see the opera house there by the river!

Sorry Manfred. I dropped P3D because of MS2020, assuming that was the future (I still believe that), however after purchasing it (my system passed the general requirements test) I found that it also requires at least a 4 core CPU, mine is not, so that ended any chance for me to use 2020. As for X-Plane, I was initially really into that Sim, but after realizing that none of my scenery was compatible and would require starting over completely, I lost interest and dropped that Sim as well, lol.

A little update. I've had some excellent input from the Beta Team and so those problems and suggestions have been taken care of. The windsock was the only thing that tests me whenever I do a scenery because there are no animated windsocks available freely (there is a caveat to that but I won't go into it here), so I'm stuck with what FSX calls a windsock. Anyway I've manipulated to a point that it looks fine and is functional.

I have also decided to go ahead and add the other seasonal textures which is what I'm working on now. Hopefully this will all be complete and ready to upload by this evening.

Ed,
Thanks for all the great looking scenery you have made! Impressive catalogue of work. Just wanted to state that.

Here's a posting from the Recreational Aviation Foundation site on Facebook this morning ......

The RAF helps save one of the country's most distinctive airports from potential closure!
Goodspeed Airport, (42B) lies beside the historic Connecticut River in East Haddam, CT. The airport has a 2,120-ft paved runway, a parallel turf runway, and is the only seaplane base in southern New England, listed as 4,500 feet in length.
RAF Director Bill Brine learned that the original owner placed the airport for sale and that the airport could close. He connected with two local aviation enthusiasts and together they tapped the resources of a third-party foundation that agreed to help preserve Goodspeed. The RAF provided funds toward the down payment, leveraging the local group into an outright purchase. They have begun upgrading facilities to boost seaplane use, fuel sales, hangar rentals and eventually provide for repairs and maintenance, to ensure the airport is self-sustaining. The RAF agreed to terms that excess revenues from operations will go to capital improvements.

Pete.
