There has been something like that in Google Earth for years maybe even a decade plus! It was always tucked away and hard to access but it was there. I think it was a tool for developers to help them place scenery objects but maybe they are now trying to make it more 'mainstream'?

I too vaguely remember 20(ish) years ago that Google Earth had a semi hidden flight sim built in but seemed much more basic than this new offering. Didn't it have a Cessna and a F-16 to choose from?
