If you are having trouble with CFS2 after you added something or changed some file, please dont be tempted to try uninstalling the whole thing and reinstalling it to the same location. 2 Reasons.
1. the uninstaller will wipe out all .cfg files so any addon planes and ships will be lost even if their textures, models and DPs are left in place.
2 The most common errors that cause CFS2 to fail to initiate are caused by users. either ignoring or failing to follow installation instructions, resulting in duplicate dp names or errors in the DP files and other ilogical mismatches, The uninstaller is not going to remove addon or renamed or duplicated DPs. Thus the fresh install will still encounter the same problem.
The quick way to rescue CFS2 from a user created bug is to rename the \Combat Flight Simulator 2 folder. Just call it CFS2_DOH or somesuch meaningful name. Then you can run the installer and create a brand new unsullied install.
My advice to you is to keep it that way.
If you wish to recover addon planes from your previouse install or add new stuff Make a copy of the Whole new unmodified install and modify the copy.
note. CFS2 doesnt rely on the windows registry to operate. So you can have as many installs as you care to make by copying the first one. The only previso being, desktop and start menu shortcuts will need to be modified to reflect the new locations of the CFS2.exe
Finally make changes one at a time, always read the readme and or the installation instructions. If you dont understand them, either ask here, or ask the addon author. We've all made the same mistakes so dont be shy.
A mistake is only stupid if you repeat it again and again.
