Is Taylor's craft any good?

Bought it on the Marketplace today . . . it is a pure joy to fly!! Lots of options and such a great flight model. Four varieties (Classic, Bush, Float and Ski) with a ton of liveries. Well worth the price!!

It is SO good. It's a simple plane, but the insane amount of setup options, the awesome physics (pop a door open after landing and watch its behavior as you brake or accelerate), beautiful visuals, sounds, etc. Tons of configurations, including the Garmin 650 and autopilot if you want to fly a modernized one, or all the moldy old radio nav instruments if you want to go retro. And there's a nice L-2 paint with invasion strips on fs.to that should appeal to this crowd.

And nobody talks about this for some reason, but the flight modeling is about as authentic as I've felt using stock MSFS physics. And nice differences between how the stock, 85hp bush version, and float versions fly. Worth every penny.

There's also a 2020 version, just lacking the stuff only possible in 2024 but apparently a nice goodbye to the old sim and feature-packed in its own right.

I've been flying the different versions for a couple of days now & thoroughly enjoying them. For longer flights relying on the
KAP 140 AP to rest the eyes.
I did find that to use the Heading function in the AP & be able to change the HDG, you need to make sure in the secondary avionics choice" - change out your secondary Suite from ADF + Transponder to "HI" + CDI + Transponder.

In the free trial, I am findging it particuarly slippery on the runway during takeoff. Low tire friction. Quick veer to the left, then way overcompensate rudder to the right. Other than that, it's a nice little bush plane. Maybe after a few pints I'll pick it up.

Yeah, same touchiness on takeoff here. The rest of the flight, though, it's super-solid in flight modeling, and a couple of actual Taylorcraft pilots on the official forums say it's spot-on.

How is everyone finding the weather dependent priming. I am curious what numbers are working for you.

For weather dependent priming I find 3 to be a good number for summer here in the US.

Other observations, I find the cruise prop a good choice, I can get out of any airstrip I can get into with it.

Takeoff and landing rolls remind me of the old A2A T-6 make corrections early, I tend to use the rudder for large corrections and brake taps for small ones.
Know when you are loosing rudder effectiveness and ramp up the brake applications till you reach taxi speed. If it is going to veer off the runway that is the time it is most likely to happen, for me at least.
