Graf Zeppelin

In my point of view i would love to see that someone upgraded one of mine aircraft .... If it´s freeware of course! :salute:

Okay, guys, I have been in touch with Bill and he says that, since he has withdrawn and doesn't bother about FS anymore, permission is granted to upgrade the Graf. Which, in fact, is very good news and is proof again of Bill and Lynn's generosity! But it's always a sign of respect to ask the creator of a masterpiece first before actually using the creation.

All I got was the top half of a dark picture.
I saw the Zepplin as it crossed Salem Harbor on it's way to Boston. What a huge machine. My Mother's girl friend., Elena Taylor was on board her.

1. I'm glad the permission issue has been addressed -- and with a positive outcome for all concerned.

2. Pleased to have the Graf Zeppelin in FSX! I bought this for FS9, but the computer I had then couldn't handle it very well.

3. Welcome, Ian Thatcher, to Sim-Outhouse. Thank you for your many contributions to our hobby. This is a good group here. We might not get everything right the first time, but we try to do the right thing, and we encourage each other in that direction.

Thanks to Lynn and Bill! They are a legend among FS developers. Wish them all the best.
They sure are legendary. :salute: Some of Bill's FS "inventions" have never been surpassed. Innovative FSX things we now find in sophisticated sim products such as the A2A B-17 were already there in some form in Bill's FS9 planes! We lost a lot when they withdrew from FS design.:crybaby:

Readme? Instructions? How to install?

Thanks, that's good to know. I only installed the LZ-127. I was afraid to use the rest of the package. Is there an updated readme?

I tried the Graf in FSX several months ago but could not get it to work. Thanks again for bringing back a Lyons classic.

Now that permission has been granted more of us will download but how about some instructions please. can all the models be used? do they all go in the airplane fsx file? hope everyone wants to enjoy this great model and we all want to get the most out of it. Thanks for any direction an expert can provide.

I am sure glad that Lynn & Bill gave the go ahead on this ship, had the cookie waved in front of my face and then snatched away as I was going to respect their wish. I have always wanted a Zeppelin since Christmas story. THanks so much for letting us use it in FSX.

Jim

could some kind soul please provide a basic instruction guide for all the files in the download?
examples: separate texture file, sound file, are these only used if you want to use all the special scenery? how about the multiple versions of the Zepp? are these all flyable as well. sorry to be 'slow'. thanks for any help.

I haven't installed this yet so I'm guessing a bit but would think that all the folders inside the zepp folder go in to your FSX installation apart from Flights. These would go in your c:\documents and settings\name\My Documents\Flight Simulator X Files (if you're an XP user). In \SimObjects\Airplanes the LZ127 folder contains the flyable Zeppelin everything else in there is AI.

Thatch Is Correct..

Do we have confired proof that Bill has allowed this to be upgraded???

Sorry, I was out of internet range (GASP!) for two weeks. I can confirm that Ian was correct in his statement that Lynn & Bill did not want the Graf modified (and YES, I HAVE written documentation of that wish), however we can take foreigndevil's word that they have OK'd the FSX upgrade.

Their main concern was that repainters would make "custom" zeppelins and their position was that the Graf was the Graf and could not be used (repainted) as other zeppelins. I assume that still applies. I will check in the next few days.

Thank you.

Thank you.
As Bill and Lynn have withdrawn from FS design work and even FS flying, they don't care about what happens in the FS world anymore. They want to enjoy other things now and I don't think they want to be asked about FS over and over again. The Graf and the other Lyons' creations are free for the FS community to use. But, again, please respect the creators and be grateful for this generous gift!

.For them guys that don't run their contrast so unbelivably high, I've corrected the picture of the Graf and its spectacular. Just my speed. Thank you thank you sir for resurrecting this beauty.
