Graphics problem

Has anybody got a solution to this.

Textures of addon sceneries do not show up. The stock ones show up ok.

I've tried changing the CFS2 graphics settings and the NVidia 8600GT control panel settings, to no avail. This happens with old and new drivers for the card

Thanks in advance.

two possibilities come to mind
1 the file structure of the addon scenery is not correct
assuming the addon resides in its own folder it should contain two sub folders
"scenery" and "texture" I have occasionaly found the textures of addon scenery in a folder called "textures".
2 the format of the textures is not supported in CFS2
addon scenery for FS2002 is sometimes supplied with DXT1 textures, whilst CFS2 is happy with these in models they dont work in scenery use Martin Wrights DXTBMP tool to convert to "extended 256 colour" which is the format of CFS2 stock scenery object textures.

Is it a new, recently released set of scenery objects? If so this may just be a glitch you should bring to the attention of the author. Even if it isn't a newly released set- lots of times other users will experience the same issue and either not realize it or just figure its something wrongs at their end. I would suggest getting in touch with author in any event. These kinds of things happens and are part of the development process.

If the textures were coming out black I would have a better idea about what is causing the problem.

Nevertheless IMHO this looks like an issue internal to workings of the objects themselves and not anything to do with your graphics card or computer.

The screenshots are from different sceneries. It is the buildings that are the problems, although on very old scenery(some early Alphasim stuff), it is the background textures as well.

In an odd twist, the sim is having trouble locating the object textures, but having no trouble with the terrain. Put copy the object textures involved to the main TEXTURE folder.

one final attempt..first off, have you ever seen this scenery working properly?
If yes then I just dont know, else, did you download the scenery?
if so place a link so we can have a look at it. else, you might like to pm me your addy
and I will contact you about it.
I suspect texture names, I would look inside the bgl for texture names and check they match those in the texture folder

Thanks for your replies.

The sceneries were working on my old PC, so I think that it is my settings on my video card or the CFS2 graphic settings which are the problems.

The stock GSL scenery is ok, but I tried adding, through mission builder CFS1 objects like the ambulance etc and the textures of those do not show up.

So I think it must be the settings.

Back to basics:

These might seem like stupid questions but:

- is the "Image Quality" slider set to max? (to the extreme right)

- delete all the "filelist.dat's" in the SCENEDB / scenery sub folders

Sometimes the simple solutions can be overlooked...... :173go1:
