Great movie

Vintage Military Hardware........

Some historic shots of some military equipment and footage from the 1950's.........

I had to fast forward thru the dialogue...........to get to the aircraft and airforce testing........

Early injection seat and high altitude test

Also, some vintage shots of injection seat/rocketsled testing and high altitude ballon jump and parchute stuff

Classic Auto's

you can also always brush up on old classic auto/truck identification .........

Rockster,

I thought that you were a romantic?......?I cant believe you would skip all that great dialogue.:ernae:

Martin Milner and Dean Jagger

Now there are two military movie staples.........

Martin Milner and Dean Jagger

especially Martin Milner ................"One Adam Twelve"..."One Adam Twelve" ...........respond to dialogue in a room of military suites trying to tie plot line together so kids can make out at the Drive in"........

Martin Milner.........character military actor

Sands of Iwo Jima
Halls of Montezuma
Operation Pacific
Fighting Coast Guard
Battle Zone
Topedo Alley
The Long Grey Line
Mister Roberts
Francis in the Navy??????
Screaming Eagles
West Point.....

Rat Patrol
One Adam Twelve

One Adam Twelve

................"One Adam Twelve"..."One Adam Twelve, see the man riding in a shopping cart at high speed on Highway 16"..........

But you didn't mention Jack Webb or Henry Morgan tho! "...just the facts ma'am!"

Rockster you just gave away your age! Haha (but so did I!)

WTF is this all about? Wrong, wrong, wrong as it wasn't like THAT back then in the movies OR tv like it is nowadays. YOU be the judge! Accept not what you know to be wrong period.

Stand tall, stand strong, stand fast!

B-47

I was just going over PJMack video again.........trying to figure out some of the history of this movie and the B-47 version used

One of the locations was Elgin Air force base in Florida..........

The B-377 in background was a tanker for the B-47

Notice the red sash covers up the squadron markings..............

Notice the coast line in the fly over by F-80 Shooting Stars and B-47.....

Armament testing done at Elgin

Rocketsled was maybe Edwards Airforce base in the Mojave.......

or

Holloman Air Base ......Alamogodo New Mexico

Ironically.......I was wondering if the Static F-100A sitting on a pole at Holloman..........may have been the future of aviation flying off into the sunset at the end of the movie???/

Research..........gave me a flash to the past

Oh man............this really gave me a flash back.

Remember cigarrette ads .....................holy crap....

watch this rat patrol intro........complete with ads..........wait for it..........

popculture interlaced with loose military history

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X34OFJpnRwE

Yes........Tv rat patrol was chezzy and the 1960's.............research B-47 of the 1950's youtube gave me this intro.........its the cigaretta ad.............pop culture at the time. That guy who did all the tv ads..............marlborro man..........See the USA ...in your cheverolet......flash back to the ......60's.

Miltary movies.........and Martin Milner carreer of all those decades......from the late 1940's thru the 1970's is the tie..........you saw the man ......you know you saw the guy........but what was his real name...........Martin Milner

H-19 Chickasaw .....Declassified

I think the reason they show the markings on the H-19 Chickasaw is because it was a Declassified aircraft.

The F-80's maybe a T-33?? But that a simple mistake.......or one of the same???

The B-377 is KC-97 .......sorry I wasn't coverting to military designations .....19th arefs KC-97G Homestead AFB, Florida

I am trying to figure out, the B-47 has a red sash to cover the squadron or the SAC markings .......which was classified at the time?????Did they white wash the nose??? and other areas.......B-47E????

Antiflash paint.........

The H-19 show up in the sea rescue and the rocket sled........... so maybe the all california shots?? Edwards airforce base and then somewhere offshore california in the pacific?????

I don't think it was the Salton Sea for sea rescue?????? yuk .......but that would make it Edwards

or

Different H-19's

I can't figure out because the Elgin AFB is claimed credit for support of the movie "On the Threshold of Space". The honeymoon shots maybe California......but I would assume they would be shot in Florida to save production cost if test was at Elgin.

I think it was Edwards, or Holloman, or Kirkland or White Sands, and Elgin????

Oh well......just trying to keep occuppied.

A CFS2 Run ..........as a closer

I thought it only right ............to end my B-47 stuff with a run in the CFS2 Boeing B-47E Stratojet aircraft by Rey Lopez.

I did a quick repaint and shine to make it look somewhat like the B-47E in the movie....

This is nothing new.......and there was a extensive thread at one time.........but it is a tie to "On the Threshold of Space"........which I hadn't seen before...........and some interesting aviation history behind the making of.....

And of coarse......I had to drop a few conventional .........

LABS Maneuver........B-47

I had to try the LABS maneuver.........

screen shots to look at ..........

More shots of the Lopez B-47

Just some shots .......cleaned up for a browse

Playing with textures......and just flying around

In the midst of a freeze..............and bad road....

So I am just flying around in the B-47E .........driving you crazy with more pics.......here is one of the guys sitting waiting in the snow.......

Thought it was appropriate..........ha

Playing with the skins...........

Also.......

I put in my RAF 1000 pounder for a LABS .......fun and games........tossing it straight up and watchin it come down tail first........

I have to say......the ballistics in CFS2 are a bit basic........

Ya......going crazy waiting out the weather.......hey it's sunny and clear at 15,000 feet

Edwards Aiforce Base

I had not tried Edwards Aiforce Base by Dennis Waggoner.

Since I was talking about the location above...........

I thought I should fly the B-47E at the dry lake..........

If you haven't tried the FS2002/CFS2 scenery..........it is a great modern facility airport for jet aircraft era testing............

Only thing is don't get the space shuttle in your screens when flying 1950's vintage craft........

Some screen shots to clear the 1940's palette............before you had back into PHP2......

KC-97G ........Classic Airliners site

I thought I would see who had a KC-97G for cfs2......

I found...............Tom Gibson's Classic Airliners site

This Fs2004 version and the AI models are quite detailed...........and have been featured here before.........

But.........above in this thread...........it came up..........

Unforturnately.........it is a bit too detailed and trouble with it and the AI models in CFS2.........at least on my machine..........

But here is a shot of me taxi way at Edwards............I was going to do a flyby ...........in the B-47E but my machine keeps crashing on a two plane mission with the KC-97G
