Great TV Program Last Night

Although I cannot remember the name of it. I came in late on it.

It was about Admiral Thatch of the USN aviators in the Pacific. He created the Thatch Weave as a tactic to even out the playing field between Zeroes and Wildcats in a dogfight.

IT was quite informative. Excellent program for online gaming tactics. I doubt we could get a Thatch Weave going with AI wingmen in CFS2, though I wish we could and the Ludberry circle.

I have seen that or a variation of that program,I don't watch TV anymore and it was very cool.It would be a blast if we could do that with AI.

You're talking about advancing the AI programming again...still not an option at this time. Not only would a programmer need to teach them to execute the formation tactics, but also how to use them in combat. I would imagine the Ludberry to be especially troublesome, trying to decide and implement what would trigger a formation break on the quarry.

Now in team-oriented multiplay, with the human interactive these things would make for some interesting sessions.

I'd like to see that. Was it on the History cannel? Was it part of the Dogfight series? This goes to the heart of one of Cowboys questions. Often the greaness of the plane depends on the skill and intelligence of the pilot. When Thach was inroducing new pilots into the squadron he would take them up for a mock dogfight, he would be reading a newspaper or be eating an apple and still out fly them. The only new pilot that ever matched him was a certain Butch O'Hare.
