Just saw and picked this model up for 9.99. Looks and flies great and the sound file is pretty nice. There are legacy and modern panel versions and civil and Military variants. 537627205_10163624411742745_2771126832969113630_n.jpg

This plane is one of the main reasons I pre-ordered 2024 (which I still haven't installed). If I'd known what a disastrous launch that would have and that they'd be selling all of the new aircraft for $10 in 2020, I probably wouldn't have purchased it at all. Now, I don't want to buy a plane I've already bought, but I don't want to install 2024 yet. Sheesh.

These 2020 versions should be free to people who own the 2024 edition that contains them.

YES!!! I've been waiting for this one for a while now!

If you haven't ever installed it, there may still be a possibility of a refund. It's worth at least asking...

hang on, is this the 2024 Albatross in 2020? Oh yes! For me that was really the only interesting aircraft in 2024, apart from the DC-3

Just got done with a short hop around PHNL. First thing I noticed is that MSFS still can't get beaching right. You roll off the "ramp" in to the water and just keep rolling as if Christ himself was in the pilot's seat. Then when you hit the gear lever, the plane just drops into the water.

But as for the plane, I'm happy I bought it! Even the steam panel (as shown above) has some modern stuff to it, but I'm absolutely loving the G-111 version with the full G1000 suite. It genuinely gives me the feeling of being in something that was fully restored on the outside and modernized on the inside. Getting her started the first time was an adventure - there's a small learning curve to it. Videos of it in the '24 sim show engines that start in just a few seconds, but in 2020, they are not that easy. Once you follow all the steps, you have to hold the starter for at least 10-15 seconds before you get any life out of them. But the run fine once they're going. Now if only there was a Hemisphere Dancer paint...

They just finished an overhaul of the real Hemisphere Dancer in the past few months. It should be back at Margaritaville at Universal in Orlando. Don

The beaching works better in 2024, though there’s a bug that causes wear on the nose wheel when you do it.

By the way, reverse pitch works very nicely to back out of a spot on your own power.

I know the dev's are just being true to the type, but I wish there was a civilian version with the clear nose.

Had no idea this many of y’all were still using 2020.

2024 runs so much better on my rig that I’ve dealt with the remaining quirks. Definitely couldn’t see flying downgraded planes on 2020 instead given how solid SU3 has gotten overall.

The way 2020 runs on my rig, hassle free, I see no reason yet to go to 2024 to be honest.

Noticed the
  • Magni Gyro M-24 Orion
  • Pipistrel Taurus M
  • Robinson R66
  • Powrachute Sky Rascal
  • Zlin Aviation Savage Norden
are now all at the Fs2020 Market place.

Gaaah, you guys are gonna spend more on FS2024 planes than if you just got FS2024. :) One thing to keep in mind -- while it's not working for everyone right now (story of MSFS2024's life!), some people are seeing entitlements to the FS2020 versions if they own the plane in FS2024. So once MS gets their crap together, you might find it cheaper to buy-and-not-use MSFS2024 just to get access to the plane library vs buying 10 of these things.

I'm opinionated about this because I remember the fracturing of the market during the 2002/2004/FSX transition, and how we ended up with a real mess in the add-ons area vs what we'd have had if everyone had just moved to FSX for new stuff... Let's all go the future (um, last year?) together!

I've uploaded a 2020 version of my Albatross repaint to flightsim.to :)

Well, I hope that's the case. I have the Aviator package of 2024, so I should have all the planes. Right now, though, the only 2024 plane I have access to is the pre-order Canadair 415. If it's true that some people are getting the 2024 versions, and others aren't, that seems like a bit of a legal issue (especially if the people who aren't have purchased a 2020 version that they otherwise own in 2024, and that other people got for free).

I'll be ready to actually install my 2024 version soon, but I'd sure like to fly the Albatross in the meantime.

I think installing and running 2024 may be what triggers the 2020 plane versions to unlock. I've seen a few reports of that. I'd give it a try, since the install is pretty quick (unlike 2020).

Cheers.
