guns in the DP

How to make it so guns can not be damaged? I seek to do this because they are damaged easily and then the annoying muzzle flash stays even with out of ammo etc. I see areas labeled guns etc but not sure what to change, little different than ships DP's which have just begun to understand.Thanks.
 
Hitting the guns is hard. In the 15ish years I have been fly CFS2 I've only seen the guns get hit and do this 1 maybe 2 times. Off hand I can only really think of once.

I think AI ammo for the guns and fuel are unlimited. If you take out the entry in the for the guns or cannon in the box that would keep them from breaking but you should used DPed if you want to try it. it will make all of the adjustments at once. Other wise you might corrupt the DP.

Do shot the AI head on or while they are shooting at a wing man.

I wonder if it makes a difference on the cannon muzzel flash verse the guns... might be worth looking into.

The issue occurs on my plane as well as AI for both cannon and guns.I was told it is caused by damaged guns.I noticed when wing area was hit by rear gunner of vals it started and also when friendly flak was exploding around me(although not damaged messages show up) without, I fired a burst at a zero and when let go of trigger, the muzzle flash was still going but not firing bullets, even though I was no longer hitting the trigger button.This happened on P-38 OH as well with both the .50's and the 20 mm.Only solution I could think of if it is related to the guns taking damage is make them invincible if possible.

Dasuto,

With all of the issues you're having, I'm wondering if your graphics card might be giving you fits.
 
Perhaps this maybe the cure....

Open the DP with DPED utility and change the Part for the guns to -1 by manual typing it in. As long as -1 is not set to any parts there will be no damage to the guns.

Thanks.Is it normal for the left side(where is says port guns, starboard guns etc) to change when change the value to -1? Wont hurt mess up the DP?

Yes that is normal, there should be no part listed for -1 and it will not hurt anything in the DP file. -1 (by not having any part listed, on left side, for that number) just prevents any damage to the guns that will prevent them from firing.

Thanks, this seems to have worked fine with every plane except F4F-3 (based on the OH model) I have a mission set up simulating O Hare's MOh flight off Rabaul on Feb 20 1942.When I start firing at the Bettys, my guns start doing this annoying thing.Any ideas? I made adjustment in other DP's to OH F4F4, F4U etc, works fine, no issues so far.
