We need the Northern part of Europe in a gsl. Who did the work for MAW? Norway, Sweden, Finland and the Baltic Sea would be great hunting grounds.

I concur, that we need some Finnish scenery.. Sweden can be forgotten, all they did was shoot after our brave pilots as they.. umm.. departed early.. after receiving their Brewsters. :d that would also mean that there's need for larger amounts of soviet and Finnish machinery. I'm sure that Rene can help with those.:ernae:

The more we move scenery to the North and East, the more we will loose South and West;the map has a finite size. I have long suggested a move North to cover more of South Scandinavia for ETO purposes, but seems no one has the ability/time/desire so far to do so. To include Eastern Front countries would basically involve another map from, say Berlin to Moscow. That is a big as job as the MAW map. In fact even my suggestion means a totally new map, from what I have been told from previous enquiries.

then again, I do have this faint memory about incident where Soviet bomber got lost and bombed Stockholm or something along those lines.
He was the guy behind terrain creation. If I'm not mistaken there's nobody else who can make a fully working theatre. Particularly the water creation required a good amount of reverse engineering and ironing out the bugs off the SDK.
Unfortunately he passed away before he could write down his findings.

I dabbled a bit with CFS3 terrain creation, but unfortunately ended up with cancer and am primarily an aircraft creator anyway, thus didn't have the time to fully explore. I did blog on some of my dabblings.... perhaps a bit long winded

The base terrain mesh is easy to create once you have figured out the area you want to cover however water bodies are a tough call and involve a lot of hand editing to smooth out in a GIS application such as Global Mapper and north of about 60° you'd have to create water bodies by hand using shoreline data.
There's a lot of work involved but I can help point you in the right direction with data etc.
