Gw3

The main download page is here: http://www.goldenwings.info/

There's a lot more stuff as well, but this is where Golden Wings lives. The home site is The Old Hangar, here: http://www.theoldhangar.net/downloads.html

Plenty of extra airfields, aircraft etc. Look for anything by Bill Lyons and you won't go far wrong. The forum is pretty well as helpful as SimOuthouse, too.

Remember - without noobies there'd be no oldies!
:welcome:

Thx DHasdell, HIGHLY appreciated!!

You can if you wish, but it is not necessary. In addition, all of the FSGenesis mesh that you may have for FS2004 will work in GW3 also, just be sure when you install it, you point it to the GW3 folder. Ditto Active Sky 6.5 if you put the FSUIPC module in GW3's Module folder. F1View and the Fly-By Modules will work also. But you cannot use the FSRecorder in both FS2004 and GW3, it has to be one or the other.

Thanks Caz for all the great useful info . I had GW3 loaded along time ago when it first came out and really enjoyed it . My present FS9 install is prop only with the outstanding Cal Classic's AI and scenery . Along with all the outstanding scenery by John Stinson , Jim D , Cees , Ian and many others too numerous to mention . I tried SilverWings and opted to keep GE Pro , Ultimate Terrain , FSG mesh and landclass . There are no jets in my setup but occassionally I'll go into an airport that does not fit the 50 , 60's era scenery wise but you look around and nothing but DC3's , 4's , 6's . Srats , Connies etc . I just want to revert back to 20's to 40's , low and slow and tear up the dirt ! Someone mentioned experimenting with some of the new grass textures(Photograss , New Grass etc) and try them in GW3 . " The Old Hanger " site is a wealth of info and had instructions on adding programs(FSNav etc) and a few you mentioned . What's great about FS9 is the high fps on the current PC's and you can tailor it and add to it to fit your own personnal style of flying .

Thanks again ,

Rich

Rich,

I have tried every grass option out there and I always go back to PicNic.

After the success of TreeX, it was logical to improve the ground of Flight Simulator. This is why PicNic was carried out. But PicNic is much more than grass! It makes it possible to improve the ground in general, giving to basic textures an aspect more contrasted and also while bringing more relief. PicNic run olso on the photo-realistic sceneries bringing an additional dimension to them! It also makes it possible to better appreciate its speed, making the flights at very low altitude more alive. The pilots of helicopter will appreciate the precision which PicNic during the operations of landing and hoovering. PicNic is FS2004 compatible.

People who like gw or sw will like the custom classics by Bill & Lynn Lyons. Each one features a plane from the past along with extras and flights. Used to be payware but is now free.

I've had fs9 and gw installed at the same time and always had a problem. Somehow they would bleed into one another and the only way I found to keep them separate was to install them under separate user names.

Great topic. Having started from scratch I just got finished with a fresh install of FS2004. I created a copy of that folder and named it and the contained FS9.exe to FSGW3. I then installed Golden Wings, Update 1, 2 and Graf Zepplin. I'm a bit confused, but heading to The Olde Hanger to see if I can figure out the next steps to decipher. :kilroy:

Ole Boy

If need any assistance, just give a holler here. Lots of folks here who know GW3 issues mighty well. You have a dedicated GW3 install, have it renamed, and GW3 and the two updates in place...you are right on target.

Hi OBIO

Right on target huh....I don't even know where the shell went after pulling the trigger. I was under the assumption this was going to be an easy thing to do. Not an individual thing so-to-speak :kilroy:

I'll start a new topic of my own to see If I can get started by doing things close to home.
