Hamilton Airport YHML Vic Preview

SOH-CM-2022
hello all

Here are four little preview pics of the upcoming Hamilton airport.

Hamilton (not to be confused with Hamilton Island in Queensland) is located in western Victoria. Regular passenger services are flown by Sharp airlines who have a nice Metroliner flying from Hamilton to Adelaide and Essendon (Melbourne).

Includes about 40-50 sqkm of photoreal around the airport.

The photoreal is pretty low res so I've used FSX apron and runway textures but have added some custom taxiway markings.

When you said Hamilton Airport, I just imagined Hamilton International Airport in Ontario, Canada. :icon_lol:

Great work as always; a fantastic looking addition for those who fly Down Under!

Haha ...I was thinking Hamilton International Airport, New Zealand..although that airport has been done ..and done well

This so cool, I live just over an hour south of Hamilton. The only thing missing besides the metros is Tony's Dromader Fire Bomber 353 parked on the grass.

Excellent cant wait for release :applause:

How are you adding the custom taxiway markings? I have been dabbling with improvements at the local airport we keep our planes at.

Custom markings are like in the ones in the following pic.

The two straight yellow lines pointing to the top right are just FSX taxiways, The HAMILTON, parking markings and blue box in top right corner are made using FSX models and placed a cm or two above the ground level.

Usually, doing something like the HAMILTON sign you would just use a rectangle and then use a transparency to write the name. I decided to write the name out in polygons instead, disadvantage is it uses more polys, advantage is it is less susceptible to the flickering Z-buffer problem. Even if it does start flickering it will only flicker the writing rather than having a big polygon flickering.

Puffdaddy could probably tell me if the metro is parked in the right spot, there is a blue box in front of the terminal that is marked RPT ONLY but then there is this nice parking spot (which is in front of the fuel).

PS Sorry about the low res image.

What I have also done is create these new apron lights. These lights work much like the Lotussim landing lights and light up the FSX apron textures rather nicely.

Believe it or not - all the times I have been to this airport and it has been many (long hours) I have only ever seen the metros pull up in front of the terminal, disembark/embark and roll off to their next destination. One is more likely to see them parked at the Sharp's maintenance terminal at Portland airport off to the south west. I suppose quick turn around is the business model these days.

cheers Puff
