Hello gang,

With all the recent Hawker Sea Fury mania (I, chief, of all sinners stricken by that particular vice! :friday: ), I stumbled across this lovely beast, also by the eminent Hanvey/Barry team (and Jan Rosenberg for those awesome effects ....)

Anyway, RobH did a couple of repaints for the IV version of the Tempest - but wondering if there was ever a repaint for the II?

I love round engines and I cannot lie ...

thanks!

I said : when I look into the Tempest, the stick is mobile, and not in the Sea Fury ; is it so hard for who use good some 3D softs, to put the mobile version of the Tempest in the Sea Fury ?

Delta_Lima, problem with profils is that it just... profils ! LOL ! How to see the wings ? The page with all details and cockpit is amazing !!!! I think I will put my noze in the Tempest panel... :)

Hello Robert,

Yes, the are suprisingly few good photos of the Tempest II that show all the detail. Here is that profile I was looking for ....

I don't know why, this looks totally gorgeous. Here is a photo of the same bird ...

These bare metal planes were later handed over the IAF, so this site covers a great deal of the period of the RAF-IAF transition in 1948...

Anyway, let me know if you need anything else ...

Thanks a million DL!!! For sounds we can use the Brilliant sounds of the recent Sea Fury update I imagine?

And looking forward to loads of brilliant repaints for this gem!! :woot:
Cheers,

PB

No worries PB - I only wish I had more to offer the community than mere simple bits of information.

Yes, you're obviously aware of the Sea Fury and it's update, so those are the same sounds I would recommend. I'm thinking of mapping the Sea Fury cannon effect to this plane ...

Will someone be so kind as to post a link to the Sea Fury sound and its update?
I thought I had it; I've searched SOH and tried Googling, but to no avail.
Thanks.

That's because it wasn't posted here (to my knowledge) - but it's on flightsim. Search for "fury" and it's the first thing that comes up.

Going a bit off topic for a moment:

I downloaded and installed the Tempest and Sea Fury. All went well until I got to the part about installing the carrier. Totally lost, don't speak French, need help. HELP!!!!!

Going back on topic:

Going to get crackin on a paint template for the Tempest.

OBIO

Hello Obio - piece of cake - here's what you do:

run the unzip to a temp location - desktop is fine. It will install a folder called PA R95 Arromanches. Drag that into your FS 2004/Addon Scenery folder. Start FS. Settings. Scenery Library. Add Scenery. It will launch a dialogue box, asking you to point out the file to add. Go to Addon Scenery, click on PA R95 Arromanches. OK. Exit FS. Relaunch FS. Go to airport - type R95 in the Airport Code box - you'll see it come up.

C'est tout-that's all! PA stands for "porte avions" - French for "aircraft carrier"

I'm thrilled you'd consider a Tempest paint - I trust this link http://www.hawkertempest.se/RJCaruana.htm will help for panel lines.

Many thanks - let me know if you have issues on the carrier scener front.

cheers,

dl

Thanks for the info on the carrier install. The dat file stuff has me scratching my head....do I have to do anything with that?

What about the ship stuff in the Sea Fury 2,06 update package? What do I do with that? The directions are pretty sparse and I don't want to botch anything up beyond repair.

I have one side of the fuselage lined out and it is pretty close to what is on the real plane. A couple lines need adjustments in terms of position to try to avoid so distortion caused by texture stretching or model/poly waviness. Unfortunatey, the Tempest 2 does not have reflective texture coding, so a bare metal skin will not be the easiest to pull off. I got pretty good doing bare metal schemes in my CFS2 paints, using a hi-res gradient bmp that does a good job mimicking reflective aluminum. Works on some models better than others, and unfortunately, it doesn't work so well on the Tempest 2. I will do some tweaking to the "aluminum" in photoshop to see if I can get a better outcome.

OBIO

Hello Obio,

The dat file is only to give ARRCAB some instructions - you can change the extension to .txt, so you have the entries for RCBCO - or ignore it if you don't want to use that programme.

The ship stuff on v2.06 is a a retexturing to look like the HMS version of that ship (which the R95 started off as durring WWII).

Man, I'm stoked about your T II repaint. Thanks for trying - I really appreciate it. I'm bummed because I haven't CFS2 anymore, and you've done a pile of amazing work for that sim, but I never had the privilege of trying out your mods whilst I had CFS2 (did the campaign and never flew it again :( ). I might have to hunt down a copy of CFS2 just to see some of your amazing work.

Take care,

dl

DL

I highly recommend getting a copy of CFS2 and giving a go. There has been so much done with that old sim that it no longer resembles the out-of-the-box original. A new world mesh set (in LOD5 and LOD7) that drastically improves the look of CFS2 (and FS2004 as well) far beyond what the stock mesh offered. Tons and tons of aircraft....Tango Romeo just produced a new series of B-25s that are far far better than the stock one, and in models/variants that MS never though of including. Bismarck13 is finishing off a series of of Beaufighters that are top notch all the way. New scenery to replace the stock that is just breath taking.

While I do appreciate you thinking that my CFS2 work is amazing...in all actuality it really isn't...not when compared to work by others. I put enough detail in my skins to look good, but do not go super detailed. Where I excel is volume....and that is because I keep my skins pure and simple. Instead of spending 10 hours detailing one skin with weathering, paint chips, and such...I opt to produce 10 skins in that 10 hour time frame.

OBIO

Thanks for the tip O,

I have wondered about either CFS2, CFS3 or IL-2. I have bought (and since gotten rid of) the former 2, before I discovered that there was a whole add-on world (I think I joined flightsim.com in around 2000). Now I wish I had kept one or the other.

Let me know if you need anything else on the Tempest II.

Cheers,

dl
