Had a great day.. got a very uplifting present. My Mom is 95 years old, lives out of state from me and has severe dementia. Luckily, my sister is in her area and can keep track of Mom's needs, locally. Anyway, yesterday evening, Mom called from her Senior Care Center to wish me a happy birthday.. all by herself. Pretty amazing, considering her state of dementia. It was the best present I could have ever gotten. Mom was a pistol, in her day. A WWII Vet, she served as an RN aboard the USAT "Saturnia", and crossed the Atlantic on Her, about six times. It was wonderful to have a small glimmer of that once sharp mind come back, even for a simple phone call. A birthday just doesn't get any better than that.
