Accurate history would indicate that we should actually be celebrating on 2 July, not 4 July, but bureaucracy was alive and well back then as well.......
There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.
If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.
Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

Nopes. It's not a absolute definition about this point. In some countries, they only define America as a continent...In other countries, they define South America and North America.Ce_zeta,
Actually, it's two continents.![]()

But in the whole marble...America is not the name of any country.![]()
Yes, because is not wrong.yup, but in every language I know, "United Statsians" are called "Americans."
Well, I've always learnt America is only one continent, with 3 different sub-continents :
> North America : Canada / USA / Mexico
> Central America : Guatemala / Belize / Honduras / Salvador / Nicaragua / Costa Rica / Panama
> South America : everything else that is south of Panama
To this we can add the Caribbean which are part of the American continent too.
I use the same definition, but in other parts of the world, they don`t use our definition.
Its not a definition, it is only a way to say it that comes from movies of many years ago.
I meant that the global name referring to America like United States is influenced by movies from the last century, where the northmericans define themselves as Americans.I don't know which movies you are talking about, but I would be curious to know.
To my knowledge, this definition of the American continent (with 3 sub-continents) is the one used by the UNO.
