Has anyone seen one of these for FSX?

Hi all,

While looking at aircraft paints trying to find some inspiration for my first repaint, I came across this picture of an amphibious aircraft that I was unfamilliar with. Being that I love amphibs, I was curious if anyone knew if one of these existed somewhere for FSX (or if one was being worked on).

It's called a (Progressive) Aerodyne Searey N450 (Not sure if Progressive is part of the manufacturer's name, or just a description tacked on for the photo.) It sort of reminds me of a Seabird Seeker, but in an amphibious format and without the helicopter-like cockpit.

Here's a pic, and thanks in advance for any info about an FSX version.

Old link has been removed due to Lewis-A2A's post that there may be a virus at airliners.net.

New link (Seary's official site, provided by spotlope): http://www.searey.com/ (Manufacturer's Official Website - Thanks spotlope!)

Thanks again. :)

My AVG detected active threats on that page so tab was closed.

Just heads up that the jpegs there may have been hijacked :kilroy:

Oh God! Please don't tell me that!! I'm not running any anti-virus on this machine (my laptop), and I've spent the better part of the last few days looking at pictures on that site. :\ I didn't even know image files even could carry a virus. Did AVG say what kind of virus it is (worm, keylogger, etc?) I saved a copy of the image locally (in fact, a bunch of 'em), but now I'm hesitant to try and attach it here.

Is anyone else familliar with the airliners.net website, and whether or not they can confirm (or detect) any viruses there? I thought they were a reputable website, as I've looked at pictures there quite a bit over the last year to year and a half, and never caught any viruses (that I'm aware of.) I'm hoping it's just a false positive with AVG, but I don't want anyone catching a virus just to look at a picture.

I can tell you there's nothing like that for FSX either payware or freeware. There are similar amphibs that work in FSX, fun to fly, but none of them are in any type of high detail.

Thanks for the info. That's disappointing as I thought that looked like a really fun aircraft to fly (I love low and slow VFR flying, and lake-hopping is one of those 'fun' activities I like to do regularly.) Any suggestions on similar aircraft (even if they aren't the most detailed available)?

Thanks again!

Nah, I use airliners.net a lot for images to use for repaints as do a lot of others here and on other forums. I've never gotten any alerts from my AntiVirus program when browsing that site, so I would have to think whatever Lewis got was either from a popup on that site or just a false reading.

Yes i'm with falcon, it may just be a bad advert or pop up from airliners, I also use the site alot esp when after some new wall papers.

Here are a few you can look at:
Lake Renegade
Icon A-5 (the actual aircraft is a real looker, but the model. . .not so much)
Beriev BE-103
Republic Sea Bee
Atkinson AJ-2
Nardi FN-333

That should give you some to check out.

Thanks for the info falcon409 and Lewis-A2A. I've spent loads of time browsing aircraft pictures there just to try and find aircraft that I've never seen/heard of before, and now that I'm trying my hand at a repaint, I was browsing through there looking for some ideas and inspiration when I came across this Searey. I'd never heard of them before, and being a huge fan of amphibians, I was hoping someone may have made one (or something similar) for FSX. Since I don't have any anti-virus on my laptop, I got really nervous when Lewis-A2A said he got an alert. I'm not even sure where my laptop's recovery disk is, and if something did go wrong (like a virus) that would possibly make me have to run a recovery, I could be out of luck.

Anyhow thanks for confirming that airliners.net is a reputable site, that puts my mind much more at ease. I also already changed the link in my original post to the manufacturer's official web site (thanks again, spotlope!), so the airliners.net/AVG alert should no longer be an issue.

Would anyone else be interested in an aircraft like this? Perhaps if I'm not alone on this, we may be able to show enough interest to entice one of the great aircraft designers we have around here to take on the task (freeware or payware, as I'd definitely be willing to pay for this as an FSX-native aircraft.) Anyone else, or just me? lol.

Thanks again everyone! I appreciate the responses.

Do you know if there's an FSX-native Lake Renegade, or just the FS2004 updated to work with FSX (which I already have.) It's a great, fun plane. I've also got the Nardi FN-333, and while I love the aircraft tremendously, I unfortunately get a severe performance hit when using it.

I'll be checking out the others you recommended, thanks for the suggestions! :)

sorta like these?

Cheezyflier,

Wow, that's another one I haven't seen before. The front looks like the Nardi Riviera, and the back of it looks like a SeaBird Seeker! That's definitely something I'd be interested in for FSX (though like the Searey, there probably isn't one for FSX lol.)

Great looking odd-ball amphibian! That's my kind of plane! :)

Thanks for the info, Falcon409 and peter12213. :) I was able to find out that there is one of these for FSX, but it apparently has no VC or panel for it. Regardless, I wanted to try it out, but spent the better part of the afternoon trying to track it down, but haven't been able to find it.

Thanks again for the info! :)

I did do a mini panel for it at least. I'll track it down and post here later

Much appreciated! Thanks, Falcon409. The exterior model looks good from the screenshots I've found, so I'd really love to find it and fly that beauty. :)

A member over at the Emma Field Forums posted some info and pics about it months ago so I decided to at least do a mini panel for it. I posted pics, gave a download link, talked it up, and "poof", there was never another word said about it. . .even from the guy who posted the original thread, lol.

I'll find it.
