Has anyone seen one of these for FSX?

Lol, I'd think more folks would be interested in something like that SeaBee, but it seems like it disappeared off the face of the internet. Thanks again, and here's hoping your search will be more fruitful than mine has been lol. :)

Well, it was originally done as an AI model for ProjectAI. The designer posted some really beautiful shots of it on the forum and a link to download it as well. I know I had that airplane because I was building a 2d panel for it and needed it to test.

Now either it was a bomb and PAI pulled it from the site, or it's in there somewhere and you have to know somebody on the inside to gain access. I sent an e-mail to one of the designers requesting information on the Seabee, so hopefully he'll get back to me.

Thanks for all your efforts, falcon409. I'd say you've already gone above and beyond in the search for the SeaBee. I sincerely hope you aren't letting the search take away from your time in the sim, so hopefully the email you sent will turn up some results. If not, neither me nor FSX are going anywhere anytime soon, so please don't miss out on flying by spending too much time trying to find the SeaBee. We'll find it eventually. ;)

Thanks again for all your efforts, it's very appreciated. :)

Hi all,

Thought I'd post back to say that while I haven't found the Searey or the SeaBee, I did find something pretty similar at SimV. It's called the Icon A5 Amphibious Light Sport Aircraft, and was made by Dan Cowan. It's a pretty nice plane, so I figured I'd pass the info on in case anyone else was looking for odd-looking amphibians. :)

No problem DB,

I did find the seabee here:
http://www.projectopensky.com/
There is a paragraph under "Current News" with a section that talks about the Seabee and a link to download. Only drawback is that as I said it was made strictly as an AI aircraft so there is no VC and no 2D cockpit. I have also found a Seabee made for 2004 and am looking into that one today. It has a VC, but I haven't loaded it yet to see what it looks like.
I'll post some shots a bit later.

Thanks so much Falcon409! I thought I checked every area of POSky's site, but sure enough, the link was right where you said it would be. I just downloaded it and will install it and give it a try as soon as I get on my main machine. I'm also looking forward to what you have to say about the FS9 one you found. :) I really appreciate all the time and research you've put into this. Thank you.

Forget that, we need a ICON

I was looking through some pics of Seabees on airliners.net this morning, and feeling the itch. I've been having inexplicable urges lately to try my hand at making a plane. Maybe this is just the ticket.

Ok,

I installed the 2004 model and took a look. Initial reactions are:
It does look like the Seabee
It does have a VC
Hmmmmm. . .thinking. . . .yea, I think that's about it, lol.

Beyond those two things, it would need to have a revamp of the exterior and a good layered paint kit and repaint would go a long way to making the outside look more realistic. Same with the interior. Some realistic texturing would increase the look and feel of the interior immensely. The prop has the normal FS9 to FSX alpha problem but easily corrected. There are also some alpha problems in the VC as well and those might not be a big deal depending on if there is a simple fix with the textures or if this is embedded in the model. Finally, the pilot is a female (I'm pretty sure), but if you could remove the two pointy cones on her chest she could probably pass for a guy, lol. I kid you not. . .two pointy cones attached to the chest, lol. She's made visible in the cockpit with the "L" key.

The file name is - seab2k4.zip

Too bad you can't combine the VC from this one with the exterior model that Jun produced for Posky. . .that would be something to work with. As it is, making a simple 2D panel for Jun's model will take it as far as it can go.

Very true and there is one made for FSX but it's a very low quality.

Yeah, that's the one I was talking about earlier, that I downloaded from SimV. I agree with falcon409 about the quality, but it's still a half-decent plane that I think seems to fly well based on a quick jaunt from Key West to Miami International.

falcon409, thanks for the link to the SeaBee. I'll check it out. I wish it were possible to copy one vc to another aircraft, but at least the 2d panels are easy enough to switch around, so perhaps it will be worth it just for the panel.

Spotlope, obviously I'm going to say 'go for it' on your attempt at building a plane, so, well, 'Go For It!'. :) I'm sure I'm not the only amphibian lover in the FS community. Good luck!
