Hauling the mail

We put the windy city behind us and headed on west to Dubuque Iowa on the Mississippi River. Great flight with an interesting approach and landing due to the winds. Let's just say that I did things the hard way as usual.

From here's we'll start heading south, following the river...
 
Delightful flight over snow-covered Iowa. A refreshing breeze greeted us on arrival.
 
You bet, nice flight over the Iowa country side. Looking forward for heading south, if nothing else just to get out of this cold and snow!
 
Nice flight from Keokuk down to St Louis with 45-50kt crosswinds all the way down. I'm starting to think that the airports could use log chains for windsocks.

Anyway it was still a great flight.
 
We flew all the way to Cairo- Cairo, Illinois. The winter thaw seems to be in effect for a change.

Handed over the Mid Continent ship for a Chicago & Southern route. The plan is to take it down to New Orleans.
 
We left Cairo and headed to Memphis. On the way there, we swung out a bit east and flew over my stomping grounds. We flew a bit east of my house and on to my local airport (KTGC) where we did a flyover and then went on to Memphis where we'll stop for the night (and Beale Street).
 
We put Memphis and Beale St behind us and flew on down to sleepy Greenville Mississippi...
 
:running: Wow! what a nice fligt! OK, with exception of the fig we ran into a little over half way. What can I say, the fig lifted before we started our descent into Greenville and for a change one of my better landing I think. Nice thing, "No Snow!
 
We flew through a bunch of rain storms on the way from Greenville to Natchez. We ended up going a little slower and couldn't see as much, but still an enjoyable trip.

We flew on down to New Orleans. Time for some beignets in the French Quarter...
 
Nice flight from New Orleans to Alexandria LA that took us right over the airport at Baton Rouge.
 
We followed the Red River up from Alexandria to Shreveport. I was raised on this river, but up in Arkansas north of Shreveport.

(this time of year the sturgeon are biting good. much better eating than a darn ol' gar and less teeth to chew on you)
 
Changed planes in Shreveport into this Tran Texas Airways which I felt was more suitable for the Texas skies. We went on to our first stop in East Texas at Tyler.
 
We left Tyler and headed on to Fort Worth. Nice flight with some great conversation.
 
Yep, we're still at it. We put Texas behind us and flew north to Boise City OK. The only continental US city to be bombed in WWII.
